I kinda wonder whose idea was it at first: Stevie's or Lee Garrett's? Lee Garrett also wrote this. I'm guessing he did the music with Stevie? And Stevie and Syreeta did the lyrics? I've been confused about that especially considering when there's three or more writers, it's usually because they contributed the composition of the music and parts of the lyrical verses. As for a version, I doubt one exists of Stevie singing it. Motown has uncovered more Marvin demos than Stevie's.

I know....When I hear songs like, "If You Really Love Me" and "Don't You Worry About A Thing", it was like little messages to her about their relationship. There is a reason why I love, his late 60's, early 70's period....Maybe she had something to do with it....

Oh definitely. Early '70s more than anything but I think they was dating as early as 1968 so that could be true. The first sign of Stevie maturing to me was when he did "I Don't Know Why". It's possible he was affected by some relationship. What relationship is to anyone's guess. But if he was dating or was pursuing Syreeta, that can explain things...
