Ever since she has debut her fans has portrayed Lady Gaga has being an original or some type of musical genius.

I have checked out as much as I can regarding Gaga and I think she is very intelligent about the business. She is really good at marketing herself and making herself a brand and she is aware of so many performers who came before her such as Bowie, Vanity, Edith Piaf,Ella Fitzgearld.

But in what ways is she a genius. I have checked out her work and most of what she does artistic wise is remanufactured or more exaggerated. Now I am sort of old fashioned when I think about the word genius. I have talked to her fans and they always say she is a musical genius because she can play the piano and she writes her own songs. Um almost evey artists nowadays has some form of artistic freedom but in what ways does it make them genius.

When I think of musical genius, I think of artists who have managed to change music or use originality in their concepts. For example artists like Barry White who geniously blended classical music with contemporary beats.

Lady Gaga's music does not make me think or look at things differently, her music is genric beats that you would hear at an 80's club party. Her lyrics besides Born This Way have no universal thoughts or truths. I think what has helped her is the music video which has been her best friend ever since she made her debut.

Back in the old days artists such as Bob Dlyan, Barry White, Earth Wind & Fire, did not have music videos back then so their songs were more about storytelling using abstracts and concrete aspects together.

I am not hating Lady Gaga, do I think she is talented? Yes especially for today's mainstream music standards. Her gimmick is a breath of fresh air from other female performers who rely on T&A to get ahead.

Do I think she lives up to the hype from her fans? No I think some of her fans think that they have some exemplary intelligence because they think they "understand" Lady Gaga's psyche or art. I think Lady Gaga has knowledge of what i takes to leave an impression but in no way shape or form do I think she some exemplary genuis or the reincarnation of Andy Warhol.

Is Lady Gaga truly a genius or is she just using artistry from other artists to make herself a genius.

She is not a genius. Just a girl with a great voice and a great marketing team. If Gaga is a genius then so is Xtina and so is Mariah and so is Whitney. All these women have/had great voices with great marketing teams and we all thought they were the golden shit at one time.
