The X Factor Dumps Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger

January 31, 2012

Link

Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones have all been axed from the American version of Simon Cowell's hit singing competition The X Factor.

The decision to fire two judges and the show's host was made at a meeting involving Cowell and his creative team in the United Kingdom, in which the group went over what they believe went right and wrong with the show's first season in the United States.

According to reports from a source close to the show, Abdul's role was deemed "irrelevant to the mix," particularly as the contestants she mentored were all picked off early in the competition.

There was no explanation for why Scherzinger and Jones were dismissed, though the source noted that Cowell wanted to bring in bigger names for the second season. As it stands, L.A. Reid, the fourth judge on Cowell's panel, appears to be staying with the program.

How about adding Whitney Houston to this show? I'm serious, this would be a perfect gig for her.It would be a steady, reliable job for her.

Great suggestion. I was one of those persons who balked at the hiring of Paula and Nicole. As you might recall, 2 years ago Scherzinger was also let go from NBC's The Sing-Off, another singing competition program.

Ratings move by Simon, no one digs this shitty ass shows anymore or his tired ass gimmicks.

She built a large fan base overseas, but she hasn't gained much traction stateside. The delayed & aborted projects haven't helped.

No one has gained traction saleside unless your Adele, lets be real about that, it takes Katy Perry 20 number #1 singles to sell an album.

I think it was just for the AI nostalgia and train wreck factor. Obviously she has worn out her welcome. Its now the era of Snooki (who took over her steelo).

no but since AI everyone that tries to do one of these lame ass shows, they go to someone who actually was part of a hit, lets face it, X factor bombed, its a done deal, the only hope he has is to have the Kardashians come out and judge music, AI is collapsing and probably this is it for that show, because the winners arent even making a dent on sales, and the VOICE is basically stealing the "talent" show light right now sad as it is, thats what it is. I just want them all to get cancelled in one shot.

Too bad Jersey Shore and SNooki and all that are rip offs are Andrew Dice Clay type antics and fake guido shit, ironically MTV kicked him off the air and now they rip him off for the persona.

Viewers got pissed off at Nicole after the little girl got voted off, (mini version of Etta james, I forgot her name). Anyway, Nicole would've been much better as the host, not a judge. Is there a chance she could go back to The Sing Off? I know she'll miss those checks.

Paula can't sing at all. She's just bad, and got over on her dancing. It was weird seeing her correcting people who outsang her every week. I wanted her to STFU.

I don't know what the deal is with people wanting Whitney. They ain't gonna get her, she just wrapped up a movie and is going to start another. Plus there's this rumor going around now that she's doing another album this year. It just might be me, but I think being a judge on one of these talent shows is beneath her. She might be on her way, but she's not on the D-List just yet lol. Her name still draws attention.

And good riddance to Nicole, I hated that bitch. She ruined the damn show bringing through Dexter and Stacey instead of the acts that were clearly better like Brenden (or whatever his name was). And it was soooooooo funny the backlash she got for opting for deadlock, sending Rachel home. She had to have extra security that night lmao. I actually like Paula, her and Simon are so cute together. I guess they had to do something, X-Factor was lacking in the ratings area compared to American Idol. And we all know Simon wants to prove he can do better than AI. Toni Braxton and Mariah Carey would be good replacements, I think.

Whitney is too big for a show like this, but she would make a good judge cause of her voice, or what it used to be.

Wasn't there talk of Mariah joining one of these shows after having the kids or was she suppose to only be a guess judge/mentor? I swear I recall talk of her eventually joining The X Factor. I could be wrong....

Cowell: Madonna and Perry would be great for The X Factor USA

Published: Today at 13:10

SIMON Cowell thinks Katy Perry and Madonna would be a great fit for The X Factor USA.

The programme is in need of a fresh judging panel since season one's Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were given the axe. Host Steve Jones has also been booted.

Talking about potential candidates for the new line-up, Simon said that the Queen of Pop — who just performed her new single Gimme All Your Luvin' at the Super Bowl with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj — would make a great judge on the talent show.

He said: "Yes I think she would be great, in terms of experience and success."

He also said that Firework singer Katy Perry would be the right kind of pop star for the job, saying: "I worked with Katy once, I think she would be fun. I think she is hard, in a good way and she's feisty."

But the show's boss has said that Mariah Carey is NOT being considered for the show.

In an interview with ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour on Extra, Simon said: "I don't think Mariah would make that commitment. I really, really don't. She's just had kids, you have to work five days a week on this show and do all the travelling as well, so she won't be on the list.

"I adore her, but you can't expect someone who has just had two kids and has a recording career to make the kind of commitment we would need on this show."

He also quashed rumours that Elton John could appear, saying: "Absolutely not. He's in the Super Bowl commercial with Melanie Amaro but no, he wouldn't do it, and he'd be really difficult to work with."

Cowell denied even more rumours — this time that he had offered Beyonce $100million (£63million) to appear on the show.

He said: "The budget for the show is $100million. That would never, ever happen. It's absolute nonsense. I wouldn't spend $100million on one person."

The 52-year-old also insisted that he didn't need a big name on the panel.

He said: "Firstly, they are incredibly expensive. Secondly, they have to work five days a week. Thirdly, they have to be interesting. I'm not playing this game where we have to compete on the level of A-lister stars. At the end of the day the most important thing is the contestants."

Beyonce and her dullness need to stay away from this show. I've seen her talk in interviews, her personality is almost as boring as her music is. And I'm sure she considers herself above this type of thing. She still has years of dull music to bring us before she becomes washed up. evillol

That's ludicrous! Simon shot that rumour down saying that that would never happen as the shows budget is $100mil and no one is worth that or would get that. He said he has nver had a conversation with Beyonce about X Factor.

Mr mariah Carey aka Nick Cannon shot down the mariah rumour saying that she is too big for the show and it would be considered a step down.

Whitney would bring ratings but she has alot on her plate and doesn't need the show now, she still is working and if Sparkle is sucessful, she will have reignited her movie career. There is still much interest in her.
