Bullshit. didn't have either "Rain" or "Frozen". so no not the greatest hit album

Well that is a silly argument, neither of those songs existed when The Immaculate Collection was released.

no. you obviously didn't understand me. so i'll have to explain myself to you. i trying to say that the best greatest hits album by madonna would have to have those songs..or else its not a greatest hits album.

I have to back Rococo up too because I think she released her hits collection too early. Now had it been around 1993-ish, it would've been better because it would've included the songs Rococo mentioned...THEN it would be up there.

for me it's a perfect Hits collection which was released EXACTLY at the right time, 1992/93 would have been a bad date...

people complain about Dress U Up, Who's that Girl and True Blue...fine, those are minor classics...and a bit tacky, to be honest...

I don't lol definitely more could've been added. Most hits collections don't always rise up to "best album" status but there's better examples. Madonna's is good though not gonna lie.

Even in 91, this didn't have Angel, Causing A Commotion or Angel. And those where all top 10 hits, grant it Who's that girl is an annoying song lol but i like the other 2. Strange they didn't put those on there True Blue was also a big hit to.

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

No, not the greatest hits collection as I can't stand Papa Don't Preach, La Isla Bonita, Like A prayer, Express Yourself, Cherish, and Rescue Me. Actually thats quite alot of terrible songs for a hits package.

Best collection is obviously Ultimate Prince with those slammin' 12 inches.

Love the song, but doesn't fit with any of the other material and is unnecessary in selling the album. I think it would have been better if they'd saved it for "Erotica."

TIC made me a fan of Madonna in the first place. I was 9 when it was released so I was too young to be buying her 80s albums at the time they were out - and the fact that I never even heard of Madonna until Like a Prayer as my parents clearly thought she was a bad egg, and everyone at school liked Kylie Minogue more... remember that this was primary school time - it just seemed that Madonna wasn't for little kids where I was from.

Anyway, it took a good few years into the 90s before I ever bought her studio albums although by arond '95 I was a fully fledged fan.

Don't forget for a long time TIC was the only way to get Crazy For You on a non-soundtrack album. Still pissed off that the original version of Into The Groove isn't mastered as they took it off the remaster of 'Like a Virgin' despite the song originally appearing on international versions of the album.

But unlike Madonna it's pretty much the only Bob Marley album that actually sells in any numbers or that casual music buyers have heard of.

That's part of why feel it's greater and more important than the Madonna album.

It's the essential Bob Marley, and it's only Bob Marley album that millions of fans of his will ever buy. I can't think of many artists of his calibre who are so focused into one single collection.

I generally don't think of that as a good thing, although these days the same could be said for ABBA and Queen but not to the extent of Bob Marley because people still do buy their studio albums.

It really says to me that he didn't even have a well known body of work that the general public gave enough of a crap about until some of the singles were put together as a collection in the 1980s.

Then again I'm arguing my point of view as someone who almost controversially thinks he was bloody rubbish!

His stuff has consitently sold since they came out in the 70's. Only after Legend was released did that become the monster it was. It isnt to say that his previous releases never sold.
