Brandy's album won't sound like this AT ALL. This song was Monica's idea and I don't even think Brandy really wanted to do it.

I'm ready for Brandy's REAL first single.

If Brandy didn't really want to do it then she why did she? confused She probably thought it would be a good way to become relevant again.

I think the label made her do it.

and LMAAAOOO at Monica being more successful than Brandy. In recent years, yes, but still, Brandy>>>>. Let's not forget. And now she's coming back with a new album, on tv shows, a movie etc..

and let's not get started on the singing. Monica could NEVER be a vocalist like Brandy.

Poor Brandy and Monica. They both have the same problem, they were both in the game waay too young and peaked too early. Neither one of these are taken serious as an artist these days. Monica was getting good airplay back when "Everything To Me' was hot, but that's about it. And how many ablums have Brandy released since trying to become more "adult?" That hasn't really worked out for her LOL. I feel kinda bad for them, they're so young yet can't catch a break. Beyonce is basically the same age as them and the little kiddies can't get enough of her.

Monica can sing Brandy under a table. That isn't even a contest. Anyone with a working set of ears can hear that Monica has always been the superior singer. And Brandy came back with a new album in 2002, 2004 and 2008 too...and all of those failed to perform to commercial expectation, so lets not pretend that her new album is widely anticipated. Brandy hasn't been hot since the late 90s and is coming off of several flop albums, so the stacks are more against her than in her favor.

Brandy is a better singer, actress, writer, and dancer with stronger material. I don't give a shit if Monica had one recent R&B hit. Look at their overall careers and what they've done.

Brandy is far superior.

Monica has a very strong voice and I would say Stronger than Brandy at times, especially in her teen years, but I prefer Brandy way more and her voice got better and more emotional with time. Full Moon and Afrodisiac were ahead of their time and people their age with simple, recycled music like Ashanti were selling instead of her around that time. But I remember Rihanna crediting the Afrodisiac album as one of her favourites and I think Full Moon had gotten good reviews though her label didn't push it cause of her pregnancy. Being on 90210 is huge though and I think that can help her if played right. Now that I think about it, this conversation sounds a bit like people thinking Janet's old yet playing J LO and Mariah as though they weren't only 3-4 years older. But really, if Beyonce started out solo instead of in a group (though I know they were infamously Beyonce's Child lol ) in 97', she would have faded away with them. As talented as she is (I think she dances better than Brandy though she did well with the first album), she wouldn't have lasted long without the way she was pushed and promoted.

I agree with this. They pimped the fuck out of Beyonce. Everyone knew she was gonna be the break out star. And as far as her "dancing" it's nothing special. Beyonce may be losing her appeal tho. 4 underperformed, I don't care what anybody says. And the singles didin't do that great. Hopefully we are witnessing the slow and steady decline of Beyonce. evillol

MUSICJUNKY AND ALPHASTREET, y'all better preach.

Brandy is a skilled vocalist and takes her craft very serious. She is a lot of singers, favorite singer. Her lower register and her harmonies are out of this world. And her catalog is far superior than Monica's. The "FULL MOON", "AFRODISIAC" and "NEVER SAY NEVER" album>>>>>

Like Alphastreet said, those albums were definitely of their time. Just listen to "Should I Go"......Brandy is IT!

It's just sexy dancing, nothing original or iconic. Single ladies was a trend like Macarena (which existed decades before anyway in the disco era!) but it wasn't original. But if I were her manager, I probably would have put her with girls too during a time when teen female divas were dominating so she doesn't get lost in the crowd and can work her way up from there, and made her go solo the minute their hype died down which is exactly what happened. The scheme worked and the controversies and marketing kept people talking about the group and her. I like a lot of Beyonce's music, but some of it is also shit. 4 didn't do well this time on the Billboard chart, but her videos get a lot of airplay here, and I found out yesterday that 4 of the songs from 4 reached the top 10 on the r&b/hip hop charts (gee, ANOTHER 4 in Beyonce's life! *le gasp* )

Type in [youtube:X][/youtube:X] in the post box just like this. Then copy & paste the youtube link so it's sandwiched right in-between. Then go up top and click what looks like a still-connected chain...right under the ABC strike-through button and type in the entire things. EX: [youtube:X][/youtube:X] <-- and whatever link right in the middle. Then press insert.

These folks don't know what the hell they're talkin about LoneJamba. Brandy >>>>>>>>>>

Nah Brandy is a much better dancer than Beyonce but I agree with all the other points you made. Beyonce is similiar to Madonna as far as dancing goes. They are both mediocre dancers but have their good or okay moments. Most of the time their backup dancers outshine them thats why they have them.

And I do agree with the oversaturation/pimping out of how she was marketed is how she was able to last.

I think Monica has a very strong voice and alot of her 90s material is good but I guess Brandy has a stronger catalogue she exactly has classics. I Wanna Be Down comes to mind instantly... Full Moon was a really good criminally underrated R&B album. If I am not mistaken I dont think neither one of them have ever tried going the pop route with their music...

But I think out of that 90s bunch as far as female DANCERS goes Mya is better than all of them and Aaliyah comes second. Mya is a very underrated dancer.

Britney, Janet, Paula Abdul, Mya, and Jennifer Lopez were/are dancers. There's a difference between what they did and what the rest do. I don't put Aaliyah alongside them. She wasn't that strong.

I agree... . I was just mentioning artists who also danced around the same age bracket as Beyonce that were better. I wasnt implying that Aaliyah was the best or they are the best but she is better than Beyonce as far as the kind of choregraphy she did not necessarily dancing ability which I guess can be argued.

Your right though their is a difference. The difference is they were either trained, started out as choregraphers, dancers and are natural dancers versus dancing to just put on a show or for entertainment

If you asked Paula, Janet, and even Jennifer to do a dance solo with no gimmicks, lights, etc... they could do it and the raw dancing talent would still be seen. When your a real dancer you dont need those extra gimmicks and you dont need backup dancers or special affects
