Sheila tweeted her opinion. Nothing more or less. It's presumptous of fans to think that before she says or does anything that she has to take a moment to recall if it might be a slight to Prince. It's not that serious. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I think it's interesting to compare the two. MJ's performance took place 20 years ago, of course nowadays you have fancier technology - using giant screen as your dance floor, as BEP did the same last year. MJ danced, Madonna relied on her stage presence, visuals, special effects and guests. More than 80% of the reason why Madonna's show was entertaining was because of the dancers and visuals, not Madonna herself. She didn't really dance, which is pretty understandable for a 53 yr old. Seemed like she tried to dance but her movements were way too clunky to be considered as "dancing". I applaud her for trying though. And I'm sure she would've danced a little more with energy if she was as young as when MJ got to perform. I was disappointed to hear about the middle finger thing. It's not exactly Madonna's concert, it's a super bowl half time, parents take kids to this I didn't see Prince singing about sex in 2007? I'd expect a bit more responsibility from a 53 yr old mother of 3 but I guess she can say, oh it was M.I.A. not me. On the other hand, MJ delivered meaningful message through his show In the end, they both lip synched. Madonna gave you a high budget "show", and MJ still managed to give you a "performance". I'm gonna go with MJ. But I thought Madonna's was pretty cool But as long as we can all agree that Prince's was #1....lol [Edited 2/6/12 11:16am]

why did she say that, what happened at the concert?

All we can do is speculate. Because after a few concerts where she performed, they were photographed riding bicycles together around the concert venue. "Climb in my fur."

I believe that she wasn't going to perform with Prince on anymore dates during Prince's tour-because she started her own tour with her family. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I think Madonna is more interesting, she more creative than MJ imo, she reinvents herself more than MJ ever did. Madonna is able to stay relevant and interesting... So I think she is more creative, let's just say that.... Madonna is also a songwriter, producer, director, dancer, etc. She has a lot of input in her work, her shows, her songs, etc. And even directing movies!
So yeah, I think Madonna is more creative than MJ... that's just my option. MJ is amazing too of course, but he is not really as interesting/creative... just my option

How dare she say Madonna outdid everyone? oh come on..... Sheila loves Madonna, so if she thinks that was the best performance let her be... I don't see what's wrong with that... sorry
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Hmmmm, I don't think there is much difference... MJ's moves are the same moves over and over again in 1 show... Of course he's moves are great, but he's moves are just the same every time, actually he should have come with a choreography..... And MJ's stage presence is also not amazing, it's more his energy and his dancing what makes him exciting and good live performer. He didn't sing one note live, and he never did after BAD tour.. and meaningful message? yes... but also Madonna had her meaningful message, maybe a bit short and small but it was there.. ''world peace'' ... Madonna has lot of charisma and stage presence, her attitude and joy in the performance. And come on... that middle finger was maybe 1 second???????? I even didn't see it at first, people are just bunch of whiners really.

@honestman
sheila can tweed her opinion , no problem, but stay true to your own words...
if you sings years over years " real music 4 real music lovers " & now you praise someone that lyp sinch her performance... as the best show!!! this is a bad joke, madonna is the opposite from prince, bruce, u2 etc. - this is a insult for all musicians not only for prince!
I may be mistaken but it sounds more like a deliberate provocation against prince

so you think, that she is more talanted in this areas?
Madonna more changed her image, but MJ had his own vocal style, his own dance style, he is obviously more capable songwriter, he wrote alone (without co-authors), dozens of songs, but she wrote only 5 or 6
just your nickname led me into thinking that you're a fan of MJ, I'm sorry. [Edited 2/6/12 12:10pm]

No one is saying she shouldn't have said what she said about the Madonna thing (least I'm not, KOOL, did you have to say "how dare she?"), she's got a right to feel that way.
My thing is "you crazy".
Madonna's show was probably more elaborate and we know Madonna produces spectacles, you can't help but make a Prince connection with Sheila lol
Plus Prince's show was definitely better in my opinion. I don't care what she has to say about that.
It's just odd that's all. That's me. Of course it's not too SERIOUS. I even was like "is she on crack?!" Hell she probably is. I keed, I keed. I know she's a Christian. [Edited 2/6/12 12:16pm]

- Madonna was maybe smarter in career decisions than Michael. But this is a talent in business, not music, IMO.

Hmm... I came here to see if there was a big controversy over the M.I.A. thing but it seems like they didn't even touch her as I thought they would...

Madonna is a smart businesswoman and a marketer. That's why she made better decisions. I don't know why people are bringing Michael into this...

MJ's stage presence is amazing, he just stands there and does nothing and the crowd gets wild, fans go nuts. But hey, thanks for saying it's his energy and his dancing that counts, because I agree He did sing live through out Dangerous/History/30th anniversary shows...History tour was heavily lip-synched though yes. I brought up the middle finger thing because she's said herself that she didn't need to do anything controversial to be interesting. It's not that contentious issue I guess, but I wish she could've been a little more careful because like I said it's not Madonna's gig, it's NFL's. He does come up with fresh choreographies, incorporating mime, classical ballet, hip hop, tap dance, etc, all these movements to breakdancing. There wasn't too much diversity in the live setlist goes so I think that's why people think he kept doing the same moves repetitively. OTOH, when I think of Madonna, I can't think of one signature movement. Maybe Vogue, the hand thing around your face thing, which is, not exactly 'dancing' to me.
I also thought it was interesting what you said about MJ being less creative than Madonna. When I look at MJ, I think he made a huge improvement as far as songwriting goes in the 90's. With the History album, he was staying true to his feelings and he really spoke what's in his mind, rather than only focusing on having to make something big and popular. During 2000's he was going through hard time (well I don't think he was ever the same person after 1993) so there's really not much we can look at but This Is It and his unreleased materials speak for themselves, how MJ was a hands-on director, choreographer, songwriter, producer, etc. Oh and also the best dancer and one of the best singers

It really hurt me when she said that.Sheila is a real musician. She didn't have to say "Madonna outdid everyone". Prince is the one that taught her how 2 b a superstar. I really lost respect 4 her now. I hope Prince never accepts her back in his purple kingdom. Bye Sheila I use to love U. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"!
