I agree, it would be nice if she had more songs on an album with this. "You Want This" from My Life II hints at how good it can be if she did have more songs with that type of style.

I think Mary has the same problem that Tina Turner had 20 years before when she left the blues-soul/blues-rock style of her Ike and Tina days. That the reason she decided to go fully into rock was because it was "happier" but blues/soul music have happy moments. Mary hasn't fully abandoned R&B but it seems like she also feels that if people say "come back and do that authentic R&B", that would mean to her that they meant "go back to being sad" and while some idiots may have said it (especially on message boards), not everyone is like that. Mary DID kinda returned to her old style in "My Life II" though, she has some great moments where it's like "now that's what I'm talking about". I enjoyed it more than "Stronger" I'll put it this way.

You know I still haven't picked up My Life II yet...I'm alittle scared!

Don't worry, Drake and Rick Ross don't get much airtime on their rhymes. Actually didn't mind Rick on the "Why" track. It reminded me of a classic soul record (to me anyway). The only rapper that got more airtime on Mary's album was Busta Rhymes, that is if you just get the original edition. But I feel you. I was worried too but after reading reviews on the Maryluvs board I thought "fuck it I'm buying it" lol

I picked it up and was sorry that I did. It was just a little too contemporary for my tastes. IMO, she hasn't made a solid album since 1999's "MARY". Subsequent albums, I could always find one or two tracks to groove to but I couldn't find anything on this last one.

But, back to the song "You Know". I love this!!!! It's on my I-pod and it's one of those songs that helps give me that extra push while I'm working out.
