The Two Greatest Living Female Singers Are...
There's a lot of talk on this forum about female singers and how great they are, most notably Adele. Lana Del Rey has her detractors and supporters (she's over-hyped but has promise). And people go gaga over Kelly Clarkson.
But there are two singers that these women can't touch. They'll never be as popular as the ones just mentioned, but they are originals in their own right, write amazing material and can wringe emotions from unexpected places. I've dug up what I consider to be samples of their best performances.
these two cannot be denied:

I'm just joking. I hold the two women you posted in high regard, but their simply isn't a best female singer. There are great ones, but there isn't a best! That is pure opinion. [Edited 2/2/12 19:26pm] 2012: The Queen Returns

Hyberbole is a gift.
It's my way of saying I like these two very much. I respect Adele too, but Amy came out first and to me was better, but she's gone now. But unfortunately Adele will always be poor-mans Whinehouse to me.

I could never compare the two. Amy had her style and Adele has her's.

I like Amy a great deal more than Adele as well, but I think Adele is different enough to stand out rather than be a shadow. Amy was haunted, Adele was heartbroken.

I personally think Tina and Aretha are the two greatest living female singers...

Can't stand either of them.

Love both, but Aretha lost it a long time ago.

IMO, Aretha Franklin and Annie Lennox Whenever you say that you can't, that's when you need to be trying.

Where's the opera, folk, country, gospel, rock, jazz, etc. singers? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Lana Del Ray sucks and Eryka and PJ may have good voices, but they are no where near the greatest living female singers.
Gladys Aretha k.d. Lang
Just to name 3 that could sing those 2 under the table. I appreciate the fact that you are a fan, but................

You guys...
I was just being me on this forum when I came up with the title of the thread, but loose translation:
In the realm of current, new mainstream pop/rock female singers, in the Adele, Kelly, Lana, Gaga, Katy sphere that everone talks about on here, Erykah and PJ beats them all.

In the spirit of the Female Geniuses thread, whereby absolute musical retards are being considered just as monumentally talented, productive, innovative and influential as Mozart, I'm going with:
Ke$ha Bria Valente
