The former lead singer with the R&B/dance music group One Way, Detroit-born Alicia Myers had a total of four albums released on MCA Records between 1981-84, experiencing varying degrees success with each.

• Produced by songwriter and One Way bass player Kevin McCord and multi-instrumentalist Al Perkins, the 1981 LP ALICIA – previously only available on CD in Japan – contained two tracks that have long been favourites among soul music collectors on both sides of the Atlantic: the gospel-influenced “I Want To Thank You” (a US Top 40 R&B hit) and the rare groove gem, “If You Play Your Cards Right.” The album spent six months on the US R&B charts.

• Released just eight months after her well-received MCA debut, ALICIA AGAIN – reissued for the first time worldwide with this 2012 SoulMusic.com Records two-on-one CD – was also produced by Al Perkins and was a family affair including a number of song penned by Alicia’s bassist brother Jackie and her siblings Evalyn and Aaron with Jackie on background vocals. Musicians included guitarist Bruce Nazarian (Johnnie Taylor, the Temptations, and Brides of Funkenstein); Parliament-Funkadelic percussionist Larry Fratangelo; and One Way keyboardist Corky Meadows

Song stylist Nancy Wilson recorded over forty albums for Capitol Records between 1960-1980 and by the mid-‘70s, her musical focus was on creating records that aimed at the soul music and burgeoning smooth jazz market.

• In 2011, SoulMusic.com Records reissued two of Nancy’s Capitol LPs, “All In Love Is Fair” and “Come Get To This” on one CD (SMCR 5010); the two follow-up albums, much in demand by Nancy’s many fans worldwide, THIS MOTHER’S DAUGHTER (1976) and I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ME (1977) are being released for the first time worldwide on CD with this exciting reissue.

• THIS MOTHER’S DAUGHTER was produced by the late Eugene McDaniels (renowned songwriter/producer and recording artist in his own right) and featured star players including Dave Grusin , Hugh McCracken, George Duke Ollie Brown, Chuck Rainey, Jeff Mironov and Blue Mitchell. A top 30 US R&B and jazz-charted album, THIS MOTHER’S DAUGHTER included the Top 100 R&B single “Now.”

• A Top 50 R&B album, I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ME was produced by the late Gene Page, who had worked with Nancy on “All In Love Is Fair” and “Come Get To This” and also featured a strong complement of musicians including Ray Parker Jr, Jay Graydon, David T. Walker, Wilton Felder, Sonny Burke James Gadson, Paulihno Da Costa Jack Ashford.

Me, too! I have a slew of reissues on my list to buy this year. I haven't heard about a single new release that's scheduled for this year that I'm even remotely interested in.

Me either! The only "new" stuff I've bought has been Gospel. I hope the year gets better with new releases.
