True! don't know why someone else about to go into cardiac arrest about it.Plus go to some irrelevant site to make someone else #1...

Chile please...lol If you cant directly call the person out then you need to...shut the f&ck up bro wink

Plenty have named Michael as having the best half time... I dont trust billboard around the corner... they have even named Michael as being number one in halftime and OTHERS as well... so what is your point? Its BILLBOARD lol

Prince was great, I think Michael was the best though.

I dont like the political games Billboard plays this has nothing to do with Prince before you go into cardiac arrest neutral

With all due respect...We all know MJ is a bad ass when it comes to the stage...Especially from the late '70s to the Bad tour....

But I can't see anyone who is looking at this from an unbiased view point picking Mike as the best SB performance of all time...The two best things about that gig was the hysteria he created by his silence and the special effects of MJ flying out with that jet pack...

But musically? Mike was lipsynching, his band was lackluster and the song listing was very predictable...

Prince gave it to u on all levels: from an entertainment level, artistic, showmanship...with a few suprises (Jimi and Foo Fighters covers, FAMU marching band...) and in the rain....with no lipsynching....

It's not close, and this is coming from a dude that's an old school MJ fan...

I disagree... Its a little somethintg called personal preference. To this day I will never understand the hype over Mickey Ds double cheese burgers and french fries.... but hey some people love it. To each there own.

Personally I like both for different reasons.

I like give Prince major props for singing and playing his guitar live.. but honestly, I really didnt start to enjoy the performance until he did Purple Rain (which I loved and that made everything else up). Im also glad that the rain didnt stop the show. Overall wonderful performance.

I liked MJs for his energy he brought the stage, how he made it into a big spectacle and also how he used the whole audience as apart of his performance. His choreo and staging was on point as usual. I just wish he would have sung at least Heal the World live and that his performance was at night. If the performance was at night, I think it would have made a big difference.

Now I just want Beyonce to perform next year (as I have been for like the past 4 yrs LOL).

Madonna Halftime Show: The Reviews Are In!

Super Bowl performance reinstates Madge as 'the biggest pop vixen on the planet.'

In a sea of costume changes (with looks by Givenchy and Adidas Originals Jeremy Scott), dancers, acrobats, A-list collaborators and a killer set list, Madonna seemed to leave very little to chance. Sure, there were a few slip-ups, but, in the end, Madonna ensured that all anyone would be talking about around the water cooler come Monday morning was her, whether or not you completely loved what she did during the show.

"It's Madonna Louise Ciccone's world, we're just living in it," Billboard.comwrote about her 12-minute-plus performance. "The pop icon took to the world's biggest stage to rock three-and-a-half older tracks and a playful new song during the Super Bowl halftime show."

While the Super Bowl audience is usually dominated by people who most likely aren't Madge fans, the singer, according to one review, seemed indifferent to that fact. "Madonna was defiantly unconcerned with the more conservative red state wing of the football fanbase who'd never be caught dead singing along to one of her songs," the Los Angeles Times noted about her performance. "And her halftime show was pure spectacle by the Cleopatra of the game."

The show, according to the Chicago Tribune, wasn't just about her, but also about reminding fans that she's about to drop her next album, MDNA,in March. "This was Madonna's party, and besides breaking off bits of her greatest hits to remind people of a time when she was the biggest pop vixen on the planet, she had important career-advancing work to do," the review noted. "Madonna, after all, never does anything unless she's got something to sell, and with a new studio album due out in March and a tour to follow, she had plenty on her to-do list."

Well the show is pretty much being praised by everyone. I still like Prince's the best, but Madonna's really fantastic.

Why even talk about Mj's? err

MJ Danced a little bit, but basically just popped in a cd and strutted around the stage. Nothing about the stage was special and the coolest part was the audience holding up drawings...

Yes Madonna lip synced too which was why I put her well behind prince as well, but at least her conert was visually stimiluating and live at points. She put alot more work into her performance, MJ stood there as people applauded for like 2 minutes and then proceeded to walk in some fog...

Michael still got cheered more than Madonna did in her's, just saying. lol Not knocking her hustle or anything because it was still a greatly produced show and she did pull a hamstring during rehearsal but Madonna has always been known to change up. Michael not so much. Why compare them again? Two different performers, dude. DIFFERENT. smile

I always think it had to do with gender differences. Female performers always had to work twice as hard than male performers to make their show work even if it didn't really look that way in Ms. Ciccone's case. Madonna worked with what she had - and has for 30 years. Michael obviously had more talent and was more iconic so he was excused for doing the same "Dangerous" show (I surely didn't mind at eight and a half lol). lol But then again, why even compare them? Like I said, two different performers.

Oh for goodness sakes...

Look you're free to choose what you prefer, but please don't belittle his accomplishment. That man rehearsed ALL night just for those 15 minutes of performing time. His dancing was top notch. His vocals would've not been perfect if he had to sing and dance at the same time.

You like Madonna, fine. But please, some respect for his artform. It's all his music anyways. He did all he could to make his performance perfect, and he did.

Why didn't Michael Jackson ever get called out for his lip-synching?

He lipped during the Superbowl, he lipped Motown 25, he lipped in concert...but nobody says anything.

The press never went on him about it.

actually, during prince's act 1 tour at radio city when prince went into his speel about he should be lip synching he then said "fuck that shit" but what makes it interesting is that madonna was in the audience and prince was looking dead straight at her. it was reported that after the show madonna tracked him down and they had a conversation bout it lol

also prince did take a shot at michael during either the honeymoon shows or the anniversary shows in hawaii he kept asking the crowd bout the last show they had seen and was the music live or was it a tape, this seemed 2 be reference to a show michael had just done there

let history remind u that he was nominated for 5 grammies for 3121 and we all know a few months later he used that same stage for the london shows which featured songs from planet earth. when bruce did his set he had a new album coming out and did a song from it same with now madonna CASE CLOSED

Prince was the best, hands down, case closed. Not even close.

Michael has got to get a lot of credit because he basically INVENTED/STARTED the SB Half-Time spectacle. Before Michael the Super Bowl half-time show was not headlined by one entertainer- it was a joke- they didn't do popular entertainers either they did things like marching bands and just stupid, stupid, stupid stuff. It was also the first time ever that the other networks didn't air a competing half-time program. They just said....oh shit...Mike is going on at half-time...why bother.

Also the first time ever that the half-time show saw ratings jump up from the first half of the actual game.

Michael Jackson created the half-time Super Bowl spectacle, and he is to this day the ONLY artist that the NFL has ever paid to do the show. They cut Jackson a check for $100,000 to his foundation- no other entertainer has been paid a DIME by the NFL to put on the half-time show.

So he deserves credit for that....but his actual performance was probably a 5/10 for his standards- which would probably be like a 9/10 for the shitty musical acts that are out there today.

Prince killed it though like no other I have seen. Guy was just infreakingcredible in '06-'07 SB.

Damn, definitely a lot of great points and Michael did indeed create the Super Bowl spectacle what it is today. If it hadn't been for Michael, none of the acts we're arguing about "who's better" wouldn't have happened and Prince wouldn't have done it either.
