To be honest I'm pissed that Tina had to perform at the PRE-Super Bowl. The woman could've been the halftime show! I pick any year! Hell even the one Janet was on. But she settled for the pre-shit. neutral NFL always fuckin' up.

I don't have 10 favorite..but the ones that have stuck out in my mind:

1. Prince (the rain made an already superior performance that more special touched)

2. MJ

3. U2

4. Bruce Springsteen

And that's it.

The most awful ones that I remember only because I was THAT bored2:

1. The Rolling Stones (it was like watching skeletons on stage)

2. Paul McCartney

3. Janet/Justin (if it wasn't for the surprise titty at the end, this performance wouldn't had been memorable)

4. Tom Petty (I only brightened up when he started singing "Free Falling" but after that I went to get some wings)

To be hoenst this is what made it great to me. Singing "Purple Rain" while IN the rain. biggrin

Dishonorable mention:Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and others — Super Bowl XXXVIII; New England Patriots 32, Carolina Panthers 29 (2004) — Sadly, the fine performances of Jessica Simpson, Nelly, P. Diddy and Kid Rock were overshadowed by the famous “wardrobe malfunction,” in which Justin Timberlake tore off part of fellow singer Janet Jackson’s costume, exposing her breast just as he was singing, “I’m gonna have you naked by the end of this song.” The incident, which was broadcast to millions of TV viewers worldwide, led to CBS — the broadcaster for that year — being fined $550,000 dollars.

hahaha! The Janet/Justin performance was a borefest and the same old shit from Janet. It sucked long before anything happened that resulted in fines.

But I can't belive someone was able to write, without pissing themselves with laughter, that it overshadowed the "fine performances of Jessica Simpson, Nelly, P. Diddy and Kid Rock" falloff

if anything, Janet's titty saved the Super Bowl Halftime Show. no more random team-ups of 15 different people getting 15 seconds of airtime.

they finally started putting decent acts on again, and giving them the whole show and stage.

"does my cock look fat in these jeans?"

See? The entire halftime show in 2004 was boring.

It was so perfect that it rained that night that I would have sworn Prince planned it that way....Plus the rain got stronger during "Purple Rain" EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MJ's halftime show was a game-changer, but it wasn't that great of a show. And, his song choice of "Heal The World" was just ridiculous but a very "Michael" thing to do. Of course, Prince gave the best show. Great music, great stage, great performance...just fantastic. I still have it on my DVR.

I am not a Janet hater, but I thought her halftime show was terrible, all controversy aside.

Stevie Wonder didn't do his own show, but I seem to remember him doing Sir Duke with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy or something. That is on my highlight reel.

I"m a big Janet fan, and that costume did not do her dancing any justice, the performance seemed very rushed and lazy. She should have been by herself without Justin (was so upset he was added and almost didn't watch it) and debuted All Nite (Don't Stop). Madonna markets herself better, I don't know what Janet's team was thinking and she deserved more credit.

it's out of this world ..... any bulls**t magazine that rates any performance higher than Prince is just plain stupid! and disrespectful to Prince as a musician.

I am a huge fan of Beatles, but this performance, I prefer to forget. lol

3. Michael Jackson, Super Bowl XXVII; Dallas Cowboys 52, Buffalo Bills 17 (1993) — More than 103,000 fans were on hand at the Rose Bowl for Michael Jackson’s dazzling halftime extravaganza, which included a cast of more than 3,500 children. Jackson rocked the place, moonwalking through smoke and blazing pyrotechnics and belting out hits “Billie Jean” and “Black and White.” He closed by singing his new anthem, “Heal the World,” as a plastic globe inflated at center stage and a 750-member choir sang along.

2. Prince, Super Bowl XLI; Indianapolis Colts 29, Chicago Bears 17 (2007) — The reclusive and toned-down Prince put on a sensational show performing hits such as “Let’s Go Crazy,” “We Will Rock You,” “All Along the Watchtower,” and finishing — appropriately enough, as the rain intensified — with “Purple Rain.” Playing on an elaborate stage shaped like the symbol he used to use to refer to himself, he used four guitars and was accompanied by the Florida A&M marching band.

1. U2, Super Bowl XXXVI; New England Patriots 20, St. Louis Rams 17 (2002) — The band U2 delivered an emotional tribute to America and the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The glitz and special effects were limited as the Irish rockers opened with their hit “Beautiful Day.” As the first song wound down, a giant screen scrolled the names of victims in the attacks as Bono sang “Where the Streets Have No Name.” The crowd roared as Bono pulled back his jacket lapel to reveal an American flag.

Good list and analysis, but I would still be changed first and second place positions.

While the best trio is quite obvious. smile

Up With People did several, but I don't know if they were consecutive.

The entire 2004 halftime show was lame even with Janet in it. Janet went through the motions on that and was only excited once - when "that moment" happened.

Really? neutral The stan overflow in this thread is crazy. Not everyone in this entire universe likes Prince or agrees that he's God, so why she would get worked up over an opinion is outright insane.

I heard people say that were not even Prince fans that they really enjoyed his SB per4mance. Plus his greatest hits packages skyrocketed to the top of the charts after that, without him doing no pre promotion(Besides that clever SB commercial ) ala Madonna. Prince just lets his music speaks. While his bank account stacks.. People flocked even more 2 c him per4rm live after that. They just couldn't get enough of him... The aftermath is still going to this day.....Don't hate
