Another day, another record Adele breaks...

http://www.telegraph.co.u...chart.html

Adele overtakes Pink Floyd in the all-time best selling albums chart

Adele's chart-topping 21 has overtaken Pink Floyd's landmark 1973 release, Dark Side of the Moon, in the list of best-selling UK albums.

The album, including hits Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You, has now sold more than 4,142,000 copies, making it the seventh best-selling album of all time and the best-selling album of the 21st century.

Sales figures from the Official Charts Company show it is about 12,000 copies away from the sixth best-selling album, Dire Straits' long player, Brothers in Arms, and is likely to move further up the chart soon.

The company's managing director Martin Talbot said "As every week goes by, another record seems to tumble in front of Adele.

"Now her 21 album has overtaken the Dark Side of the Moon in the all-time best sellers list - and by the end of the week, it may have well overtaken Brothers in Arms too.

Then she will have Michael Jackson's Thriller in her sights. It has been an extraordinary 12 months or so for Adele, and it looks set to become even more extraordinary as the weeks and months go by." Sales of Adele's Grammy-winning album 21 have overtaken those of Michael Jackson's Bad in the UK.

The "Someone Like You" singer's second album, 21, passed the 4 million sales mark after sales were boosted following her performance at the Brits this year, where she won two awards - British Female Solo Artist and British Album of the Year.

The top ten best-selling UK albums of all time are as follows (sales fingers in brackets):

1.) Queen - Greatest Hits (5,863,000)

2.) The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (5,044,000)

3.) Abba - Gold: Greatest Hits (4,989,000)

4.) Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory? (4,517,000)

5.) Michael Jackson - Thriller (4,248,000)

6.) Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms (4,152,000)

7.) 21 - Adele (4,142,000)

8.) Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (4,114,000)

9.) Michael Jackson - Bad (3,959,000)

10.) Queen - Greatest Hits II (3,887,000)

Me either... also it won't be too long, maybe next year, that this album will pass Diamond (10 million) HERE in the U.S.

We need to urgently re-release Thriller - Thriller 30. lol This is a good time. lol
It is obvious that before the end of the year Adele overtake Thriller in the United Kingdom.
Good, that globally, "Thriller" in sales ahead of the "21" about 50 million
70 million against 20 million

I wonder what sales would have "21" after 10 years? 25-27 million or even more? eek

nod Wikipedia acting funny about the sales figures. But as it is March 19, and on March 4 it past 7.89 million, it's safe to say she's over 8 million by this point. I read on UK Mix that she's definitely over 8.1 million here. nod And seeing as she is still selling 100,000 copies weekly, like I said, won't be long before she passes 10 million if not by the end of this year, then surely by 2013. And her 19 album is also selling real good for an album that was out four years ago.

I think Adele is going to be even more laid back than she has been. The way the album is selling, industry folks are trying to Hollywood-ize her but from what I read, she's NOT HAVING IT. lol
