It's clearly not so mean-spirited as it might seem when you just read his words - it's more poking fun not just at Madonna but at all halftime shows.
Great that he gave props to Prince at least.

For its time it was hot, but I wouldn't consider that a masterpiece at all. The problem with the type of big performances artists like Michael, Janet & Madonna put on is that they can't do all the dancing and running around and still sing live. At a certain point it becomes impossible. But it detracts (for me at least) in my appreciation of the perfomances. The one thing I liked about the times when Prince lip-synced was that he would change the songs in some way so that it still kept my interest. After re-watching Prince's SB performance one thing that I really liked was how he brought the marching band into the songs. Its like he had a giant marching brass & drum section that sounded great over tv, I could only imagine how great it sounded live. He accomplished two things that night, first he bought an appreciation from a younger audience that had probably not given him a chance by covering the Foo Fighters and by the sheer energy of his stage presence had everyone in that stadium whether they liked him before or not singing the chorus of Purple Rain. Change it one more time.. | |

And MJ's Superbowl performance was amazing for that time.... But in general... no... It was ''meh'' he has better performances.. Prince is Superbowl performance is still the best( I also LOVEEEE U2 & Bruce Springsteen their performances) | |
