Anyone into (the late) Ephraim Lewis? Ephraim Lewis had a wonderful debut album, "Skin," before his tragic death in the early 90s.
His velvety voice was a bit like Seal's, but he was probably more akin to Earth, Wind & Fire in terms of pop sensibilities, and his phenomenal octave range was far superior. His approach to songwriting was sophisticated, adult and markedly classic amid the tide of 20-something urban playas. It may have been difficult to find a mass market for Lewis, but had he lived, I think he'd have been one of the most interesting and respected male vocal performers today. Anyone else know of him, and what do you think of his work? Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I have the CD...but to be honest, I wasn't really knocked out by it. I think I played it once. A talented guy to be sure, and I still like 'Drowning in Your Eyes' a lot. Just not my cup of tea, I guess.
How did he die? -SWANGforgivesandforgets | |

Wow, I'm surprised you guys didn't really feel that album. It's become one of my all-time favorites.
Believe it or not, he died by falling out of a pretty high window onto his head about a year after his album was released. Rumor has it, he had ODed on a cocktail of amphetimines and other narcotics. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
