Butterfly vs. Velvet Rope vs. Ray of Light

If you could go with one (or if you just can't, pick two), which one and why?

Velvet Rope. Which says alot because at one point I was a huge Mariah Carey fan, and in general I'm pretty fond of Madonna but "The Velvet Rope" had some absolutely epic moments on it.

Ray of Light of course.

One of two albums of Madonna, which I like in her discography. And I think great.
Never been a fan of Mariah, just like the individual songs, but listen to her entire album is very boring ...

Velvet Rope is my last fav of Janet, after that she just started repeating herself

I prefer the Rhythm Nation concept

Over all I'd take Ray of Light,

Even on Velvet Rope it got to predictable and the whole lesbian song didn't work for her either.

And you know there is going to be a song or 2 with her orgasming and talking about her lips

Okay cool.. Well I enjoyed Velvet Rope and I agree it is terrible what happened to her music after that album but that album is one of her best works. Overall Id take RN as her best period...

The Velvet Rope was just a more "personal" album but still had alot of complex concepts... I thought the album was very interesting from beginning to end... nothing boring about that album or predictable about that album

My vote goes to Velvet Rope

What is the connection between the facts that I'm a fan of MJ, and not a fan of JJ? lol

At this forum a lot more harder MJ fans than I do, but most of them fans of Janet, too... so your logic is lame. razz

I'm a fan of many gifted artists, and not a fan of many mediocre artists so ... only this reason.

PS My posts about Janet has never been as offensive as your posts about MJ, it is very revealing ...so the only stan here - it's you .. razz

I think Rhythm Nation & Velvet Rope are her most personable albums

I love it, I have all the singles and Bsides like Accept Me love that song

I love the look

I take that back it was after this album that the predictability came in, the segue into My Need where is is 'masturbating on the phone' and I forget which song where is is going thru the orgasm thing like on Funny How Time Flies & the last song on RN and on(I'm not recalling Janet right now)

But Control - Velvet Rope I love Janet's stuff there

You dont have to be a stan to comment on what album you thought was better. There all three pretty good albums...

Imma just keep my comments to my self dont wanna completely change the nice atmosphere of this thread lol

Its not good logic to base an ENTIRE album that consists of more than 10 songs on just 4 songs.. Did you base the other albums on JUST 4 songs as well razz

No issue love... I just find your biasedness amusing as hell lol

I LOVE Rhythm Nation that is my all time favorite Janet album. I agree... I think her best material is Control through Velvet Rope.. And yes I loved her look for VR!! The red natural hair, the fly clothes, the septum pierced ( I exactly got my septum pierced to because I thought it looked so cute on Janet but I got the small one) After that album she got way to redundant with the sex talk..

you provocateur, and it amuses me. lol

I heard part of each song (30-40 seconds), but these 4 songs, I had the patience to listen to the end. Do you really want to continue this pointless discussion??

Each has its own top-5 or 10 of the worst singers, right? It's not bias, but just a taste.
Biasedness - this is your attitude about Beyonce, for example. lol

This album from Madonna - one of the greatest pop albums of the 90s (and I'm not even a fan, and I think she is overrated as hell in general, but it`s her absolutely best), it is much greater than the other 2. wink

Velvet Rope. Because it was autobiographical. Her look and listening to her play with herself was a dream.... giggle Plus she toyed with being experiemental with her sexuality. Plus it was the last of her relationship with Tina Landon. Who I miss in her life. Wish they rekindle what they had together..

I was gonna just say you know what bump the mess and lets hold hands in a circle and enjoy the thread but your kicking some mad bullshit...neutral

I had no intention of starting an arguement with you... just asked a simple question since you didnt give a reason as to why you dislike Velvet Rope then when you gave it.. it was a dumb reason:lol:

Also... Why did you bring Beyonce into this thread? lol

But since you brought her in here because you dont have a point and because your an undercover stan Ill entertain it... I am not biased towards Beyonce and in past debates with you I constructively gave my critique on the girl unlike you with Janet.

I said that she has vocals but her music sucks... and it does. There is NO biased in that because Im looking at ALL spectrums not JUST her singing which is exactly overrated to. I acknowledge that she has some talent but I be damn and sit here and say her music is great when it isnt... YOU on the other hand when it comes to Janet minimize her talent because you claim she has a paper thin voice.... fine. She is a weak vocalist but she has a strong catalogue and has alot of great songs under her belt. She also is a talented technical dancer. Thats not implying in no way she is a genius.... but I rather take a song that is a very good song by a okay singer than a terrible song by an above average singer. You fail to acknowledge her catalogue as well as her contributions and influence because of her "voice" which is biased and rather ignorant because Bob Dylan is a terrible singer but is a very important to the DNA of music. YOU are biased towards Beyonce because you think she has a good voice and completely dont acknowledge her terrible music BUT then got the nerve to call someone else biased...neutral

I dont care if you dont prefer Janet as a singer because I myself wouldnt put her on my favorite singer list either but to constantly trash everything she does just because of it is biased and arrogant not to mention to not even bother to listen to the tracks and STILL give an opinion neutral People dont take arguements like that seriously well at least I dont lol

Thats just my two nickles and dimes for you... next time you wanna kick some bullshit come correct. razz

bullshit - this is usually your prerogative, I'm sorry lol

We talked about this many times, many times I wrote, why not take seriously Janet as an artist .... and do not intend to repeat.

And enough already discussed this, our tastes in music are almost completely different ... I did not start this discussion ... it was you

Simply said, two other albums, I strongly prefer.

LMAO

Its not about being satisfied with anything. This is a message board. I know how you feel about Janet. I just wanted to hear you elaborate on why you didnt prefer the Velvet Rope ALBUM over the other two .

To be honest, I was expecting a little bit more of an intelligent responce instead of the usual childish biased bullshit. I only asked for fun not to go back and forth with you in this fashion ONCE again lol

The fact that you said you only listened to four damn tracks on the album and imply the whole album was terrible neutral ... biased check one...

Based on that we can assume that you didnt bother to listen all the other tracks from the other two albums as well (since you think listening to only 4 tracks on an album is a fair critique on whether it is good or bad )and just dissed VR because you dont like Janet... biased check two...

Congradualations you have just showed once again your biasedness.. sign sealed delivered it is...

lol
