I've noticed for the past couple of years that many titles that used to go for triple digits on ebay are now only selling a lot lower for double digits. It's the economy. The average person just don't have an extra $100+ to spend on one CD. I copped "Just the Way You Like It", Atlantic Starr's "Yours Forever" and the Japanese import CD of the "Krush Groove" Soundtrack all for under $40 last year!

I'm looking at the completed listings for the CD now. Are you talking about the one that sold for $4.99? The one prior to that sold for $74 and there's currently one where the bid up to $45. I hope you get an actual Sony/Columbia pressed CD. If you do, that was one hell of a bargin!!!

The only reason these CDs are expensive in the first place is because it's the only pressing, but I heard SOS Band is going back into print anyway so soon people will have a much cheaper CD option.

The people who don't know this or are fixated on the old pressing for some reason will bid on the old CD.

I can definately see that happening. About 12 years ago, I was trying to get ahold of Teena Marie's "Lady T" CD on ebay. However, around that time, it was going for well over $100 every time one was listed. One time I placed a bid on one, expecting to be outbid at some point. However, to my delight, for whatever reason, no one else bid on it and I ended up winning the sucker for a measley $7!!!! I thought I was dreaming!lol the one that was listed after that sold for over $100.

nod Yeah, I've bought some albums in the past two years that 7 years ago would've gone for triple / quadruple the price . Though there's one asshole on eBay who always runs up the price 4 or 5 days before the auctions end. It's the principle of the matter, I could beat his or her ass if I was a violent person. lol

That's because there's value in first pressings of viny/CD's. Just as there is a greater value if one owns a 1st edition of a famous author and/or acclaimed/rare book.

very true 1st editions are always more sought after , like the first pressings of mjs off the wall with the bonus 7'' of 'u can't win' and also rock with u had no handclaps ,

lol Right. I'm not going to even reveal how much I paid for the Japan pressing of Deniece Williams' "Niecy" CD about 10 years ago. Some label reissued it a couple years ago and BBR is scheduled to reissue it again this year!mad

you know, now that you say that, it probably was a boxset or two-fer but it was the complete albums.
