loving this...now gil is calling madonna a heroin addict on twitter.

He's accusing her of being a heroin addict because she said she wasn't showing her nipples? Sounds like a psycho to me.

We must've been at the same Chicago show, and I'd have to agree that Janet's show KILLED any of the Madonna shows I've seen, which were basically the last 3 tours. I think I even liked that show better than any of the previous Janet shows. She really came with it. Too bad nobody cared.

No you just to stuck up your own ass in what you think about things according to your own biased perspective... because if you read the comments Madonna made... you would see she is only getting what she wanted. She threw spitful shade at Janet for attention

Im not bashing anybody... Madonna threw shade at Janet BUT recently Elton did the same thing and people were quick to defend Madonna when she does the SAME thing... Ill admit I was one of the ones that defended her but she was clearly wrong right here... and since this is a message board I will respond accordingly....next..

Nope, the Toronto show was the day before the canceled Montreal show. I was so hyped up at the concert and with my VIP package that was I was almost considering the drive the next day last minute.

I went nuts when she performed those songs from her early albums, but I think I was the only one really getting into it. Either my energy was too high that night, or everyone else's seemed lower than at previous tours. I tried to talk to some people at the lounge, but they weren't really fans of hers and I just couldn't believe they were there then.

Can anyone show a video or reliable quote of Madonna dissing Janet BEFORE that hideous-quality Australian interview where Janet says she has "Class" and implies M has none.

I'd be curious if such thing exists. Janet Jackson, even at the height of her fame and popularity, was still sweating the cultural, worldwide, pop-culture impact M was making (during her "slump" even)...Even when American Life sold LESS than Damita Jo stateside M came out with a sold out arena tour when Janet couldn't even mount a tour because promoters wouldn't back her financially. Janet has always been so jealous of M's success (as is Elton, as are countless others) that she just can't help herself. Without Madonna Janet's legacy would be 85 million times larger. Madonna knows about all the bitter comments over the years and could give a fuck! She's gonna say what she wants about Jan whenever the eff she feels like it. Janet did start it...and went up against the biggest icon besides her own brother.

and the song secret is about heroin? who knew?

Second volume of hits from Mrs Ritchie
Madonna's last Greatest
Hits collection, 1990's 'The Immaculate Collection', was dedicated to the Pope. Cheekily, since he'd denounced her 'blasphemous' Blonde Ambition world tour six months beforehand. Appropriately, because like his Holiness, Madonna seemed infallible. From humble beginnings as a disco dolly from the Midwest, she now bestrode the world like Colossus in a gold bustier. Having had so many hits that she could leave off two UK Number Ones with barely anyone even noticing, 'The Immaculate Collection' was a stunning show of strength which seemed to prove that Madonnacould do anything (except act). Not to own it is basically to say that you have no interest in popular culture.

'GHV2' begins at the point that it all went a bit wonky. The first two tracks, 'Deeper And Deeper' and 'Erotica', date from 1992, when she released the first (and so far last) mucky book by a major pop star, Sex. It provoked a massive backlash. By then,Madonna had also stopped working with the people who'd co-written such uber-pop as 'Cherish' and 'Like A Prayer'. You can almost hear the resulting loss of creative confidence in mid-'90s tracks like 'Bedtime Story' (a bizarre Bjork-penned curio that didn't suit her at all) and the she-doth-protest-too-much "I'm not sorry" chorus of 'Human Nature' (represented here in a horribly dated house mix). But there are underrated gems too. 'Secret', her veiled paean to heroin and masturbation, had a brilliant bluesy strut while 'Take A Bow' (weirdly, her smallest UK hit but her biggest ever US one until 'Music') is a gorgeously constructed song by any standards. Nevertheless, 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' stank then, stinks now, and writ large the fact that by 1996 Madonnawas fast turning into the pop equivalent of Sunset Boulevard's Norma Desmond, croaking, "I'm still big! It's just the Top 40 that got small!"

What saved her was far less William Orbit
(or anyone else) than a revival of the killer instinct that had propelled her out of Michigan in the first place (and which, interestingly, seemed to coincide with the birth of her first child). 'Frozen' became her first UK Number One for eight years, but it was on 'Ray Of Light' and 'Drowned World/Substitute For Love' that Madonna found a new voice which could be simultaneously experienced and euphoric, referencing her past but not dragged down by it. By 'Beautiful Stranger' she was well away, her renaissance finally confirmed by the wildly successful (in every sense) 2000 single 'Music', 'GHV2''s final track.

Now, like the Pope, we know Madonna is fallible. Yet she seems as immovable a part of the pop landscape as she did in 1990. It's a shame, then, that this album lacks any new tracks to suggest where she might go next ('Sex Makes The World Go Round' and 'Veronica Electronica' having been bumped off at the last minute). The two compilations also leave a further 20 of Madonna's hits uncollected, so this is by no means the whole story. But while far from immaculate, this is still quite a collection.

idk...the heroin thing seems a little far fetched. u never know, i guess. people are basing that opinion off of this photo that was taken, in which she's leaving a club clutching a little baggy of SOMETHING. idk enough about drugs to say if it's heroin or not. madonna just seems too smart to be walking out of a club with a handful of H.

It doesn't seem as though she was really slamming Janet Jackson. She was just responding to the question of the reporter which was a little stupid, implying she was going to take her off her clothes or do something otherwise scandalous. Madonna has always given as good as she gets. Ask an idiotic question like that and expect to get a strong response back.

I like Madonna alone, but as people said with Janet, a lot of times at the Super Bowl they do have guests. It broadens the appeal of the show before a general audience.

[Edited 1/27/12 12:39pm]

Erotica era, had she been asked to perform at halftime, Madonna might have shown her nipples.

She has no idea if Justin and Janet did it intentionally or pure accident.

It was a moment that received way more attention than it should have.

Remember the Live Aid comment she made, "I ain't taking s**t off today", because it was right after the nudes came out in a magazine. People still expect her to do something outrageous, she might get some yoga poses in and do a few pelvis thrusts, but that's about as scandalous as she's getting. Prob. close to the Live 8 show.

If anything, Madonna would be talking to Janet about being in a Tyler Perry movie.

agree with the bold...except that only a dumb would call that an accident...she wasn't wearing that piece of (what was that..some kind of jewelry) on her nipple by chance. I still don't see the big deal with that performance. I always thought people got all that 2 far. Love Janet...but there's a day 2 call herself classier and a day 2 hear otherwise.

During around late 80's to early 90s when Madonna and Michael Jackson were in talks of doing a record together they were hanging out and would talk. Madonna dissed Janet in front of Michael and Michael told Janet want she said.

Thats why Michael nor Janet have never liked Madonna.

Madonna was very disrespectful towards Michael when they were hanging out and the final straw was when she said some shit about Janet.... obviously.. thats his sister...

Thats why she later came out and openly called her out in that Magazine which I feel Madonna deserved... during that time Madonna was not classy and she straight up disrespected Michael and her...

Like I said Madonna started the shit... For what I have seen... there havent really been any issues over the years which is why I dont know why she would tastelessly throw shade... BUT then fire off at Elton... shes a hyprocrite
