Who cares? I'm a major Janet fan who can admit that Madonna is the bigger star, all of us don't think the same. I'm a huge fan of both and even if I wasn't, Janet isn't known like MJ and Madonna worldwide even if she is/was very popular and extremely underrated. Thanks.

And for the record, having seen Madonna 7 times in concert I can assure everybody that she indeed sings live at her shows. Like any artist in that vein she sings over playback on some songs and she does lip sync on some as well. The majority of her shows though are indeed live. In fact how anyone who has seen any Madonna concert can think she lip syncs on most songs must be deaf. I thought her live vocal flubs were pretty well known. Who likes Madonna because of her powerhouse vocals anyways? Nobody who attends a Madonna concert expects to be blown away by her live singing voice. That's not what she's ever been about. She's an all encompassing entertainer that sings not a singer that entertains.

Although I think Madonna may've sort of thrown the first punch in Truth Or Dare. When she steps out of a dressing room in a long, black, button up, sort of military style jacket her dancer said "very Janet Jackson rhythm nation" and she says "bite your tongue".

BUT I don't think that's what set Janet off. Apparently it goes back to when Michael and Madonna were supposed to do "In The Closet" together and Madonna wanted to go all the way and sort of have it live up to it's title and Michael wanted to go another less risque way. Janet felt Madonna was trying to basically make a fool of her brother. I think that's what triggered her Madonna disses during the janet. era. Then Madonna responded with the clip you posted and then she moved on to Mariah!

I agree about the TOD comment and I think that's what she was doing with this comment as well. Janet's name wasn't even mentioned in the question or in Madonna's response.

She's just going out of her way because the Super Bowl folks have been ultra family friendly since the Janet thing, and with the press jumping on her about it, she's easing tensions.

Notice she also says she's not mainstreaming, as if to also assure her fans she's not going Disney either.

And if you really listen to their albums, Janet got waaaaay sluttier than Madonna ever did, and she continued the trend for a longer period of time. I'm thinking of songs like "Rope Burn," "Warmth," "Moist" (ew I hate that word), "Would You Mind," "Strawberry Bounce," "All Nite," "Do It To Me," "So Excited," "Discipline." My God the list is endless!

Madonna's "Erotica" album which was supposed to be her nastiest only had like a few songs that could be considered explicit, and even those were pretty tame. She never said things like "your smooth and shiny feels so good against my lips, sugar." Such a classy visual that conjures up. And that was BEFORE Velvet Rope.

I agree Janet got redundant over a longer time period, Warmth and Would You Mind are nasty! I like more 00's Madonna albums than Janet's, I just like All For You and Discipline. But Madonna also showed off her bod during Hard Candy and Confessions, and though that doesn't make her a whore, both women still used sex to express themselves in the past decade.

By the way, Madonna has been vulgar in interviews though so entertaining, Janet hasn't really.
