I listen to Pink Floyd and King Crimson sometimes, but I tend to think that some of the fandom can kind of run on the pretentious side at times.

I'm curious though; do you listen to any recent prog?

Hmmm, the only recnent prog band i can say i was into. In high school i really liked Coheed & Cambria but kind of lost interest a after awhile.

And as much as i love Prog Rock this is true, i also love Rush but there also insanly overrated by some people confused i think there amazing musicians, but some of there albums are straight up boring lol

Thats funny I've really been into Rush lately. I kind of jumped ship after Hold Your Fire but recently discovered Counterparts & Vapor Trails. I hate how their labeled a prog rock band. Their just a great band period. If I had to label them it would be under either Alternative or just plain Rock. I think people look at them like some stoner jam band. I'm impresseed not only with their longevity but the quality of the material that's been able to come out with it. I never thought I'd be sitting here defending Rush in 2012. I had written them off long ago, thank god I was wrong. Everyone with an ear should "Rush" out & buy Counterparts if you had to choose one. I know its from 94 but if your like me its been a longtime since you've made a purchase from this canadien power trio. Just a great rock album from beginning to end.

Their early stuff, definitely not, it's more atmospheric new wave/pop. But their last 2 albums are absolutely Prog Rock IMHO, as is Mark Hollis' solo album.
