By in large they dont, its the older crowd that is in her corner, thats why she is selling albums and thats why Norah Jones sold 10 million of her debut, no 17 year olds were bumping "Dont Know Why", so far the only teens i have heard into Adele like that, were Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez when asked who they love, ADELE has become the new answer, kind of like a decade ago when "coldplay" was everybodys answer when asked "who do you listen too" in interviews, even Coldplay got tired of hearing that nonsense

You don't know kids, do ya? lol

I dont doubt they have her music, but her base is not a teen audience, i mean lets be real, the same people that buy Rihanna are not buying her, going out and buying her record is an older demographic its all in the numbers, by in large that is her base, i mean that is the more important demographic, and also just because its on someones ipod dont mean it was bought, we know that is a whole other % that doesnt even come close in terms of music being consumed today. I know people wanna ride one album into the "the industry is saved" but its just not reality, Coldplay saved rock n roll a decade ago, then U2 saved it, then Radiohead etc...

^ So how do you base what a group would prefer? Surveys? Polls? Because usually reading polls for years, I've always found them to be crap and biased.

Britney is my favorite artist and I can't stand Rihanna. Don't speak for me.

lol Everywhere I walk, I hear "Someone Like You" being played. Go through any teenage girl's Ipod at any given moment, and you'll probably find Adele's entire album on there. lol

nod lol That song has become the teen girls' ANTHEM! lol And teen girls also love this song from what I heard and seen in the Adele DVD (I bought it. biggrin ).

Right! nod In my school, if you walk outside of the black section (yes, there is a black section) you'll hear any of the following blasted: Adele, anything mainstream, metal, rap like Tyler, the Creator, and A$$ by Big Sean. lol

Well its fair to say that her base is female, strongly, that doesnt need a poll. And the demographic for buying full length albums, through Amazon, or whatever record stores still exist show her strong point is the 25 and up, now that doesnt mean 19 year olds dont have a single or two on their ipod, that is a whole other thing than buying a whole record through a store or online site. I mean some polls can do justice some are totally incredible to believe, like saying 75% of black people like Coldplay, during their heyday when they were cool, i mean how do you even study that? Just because Kanye dug them it turned into a talking point, then everyone hated them, because everyone liked them, its all the same thing, soon people will be im so sick of Adele, just like they hate Beyonce Alicia Keys etc...

[Edited 1/25/12 16:44pm]

I'm always like that whenever a particular artist is hyped to death like that and shoved down the public's throat - it usually has the opposite effect and makes me not want to listen to them.

Plus I don't watch television or listen to the radio so it's not hard for me to avoid most current music either.

And frankly this is a music forum - there's no rules that you can only post in a topic if you're a fan of the artist.

You sound way too emotionally invested and personally wounded. lol

[Edited 1/25/12 17:24pm]

I'm not wounded or emotionally invested, I just find it obnoxious when someone feels the need to point out that they haven't heard something. What's the point?

People have a right to say whatever they like, within the limits of the TOS.

If you don't like it by all means feel free to scroll right on by it, but no I'm not going to censor myself to pacify you.

Might be time for you to grow up and realize the world doesn't revolve around you and your personal tastes and opinions. And with that I'm done with this discussion.

...And I still haven't listened to Adele. biggrin

I remember seeing Adele for the first time at the Grammys a couple years ago when she won Best New Artist. I had no idea who she was and I was pissed she beat Duffy. Little did I know how she would explode with her second release.

I've never listened to her, either. I'm going to do so now, though. I check every thread if it's about somebody I've heard of.. just boredom. Also curious why everyone is praising her so much... anyone this mainstream popular in 2012 surely can't be good... can they? I guess I'll go find out now...

Gaga, Katy, Rihanna and Britney are entertainers (at best). They rely on their sexuality to sell records and get attention.

Adele is a singer. She relies on her voice to get attention. Good for her for getting the attention she deserves.

Just read she's the first UK-based artist since Georgey Boy (George Michael) to have three or more #1 US hits at the same time off one album.

It would be interesting if she could tie or break Katy/MJ with her singles in America. All she needs is two more and she's obviously on a roll.

I think is the right time for:

"Don't U Remember" (Valentine's Day, February)

and then

"Rumour Has It" (late May, in the US)

maybe "Turning Tables" for 2012 autumn...

that said, "I'll Be Waiting" also has chart potential (summer? July-August?).

My God, this album is full of potential hits...there are also other ballads that could go to the N1 spot of the adult/cont charts ("He Won't Go", "Take It All")

Hmmm Don't You Remember is actually the only song I don't love on 21, but I'll be Waiting would be a good summer single for her.
