Other than her obsessed, delustional fans and perhaps people with a lot of extra money to flush down the toilet, I don't think there are a lot of people here in America willing to pay top dollar to go see her croak and talk her way thru "I Will Always Love You" and whatever other songs she decides to butcher.

Im taking this one with a grain of salt. People forget I Look to You did pretty well stateside...plus she's in 2 of the biggest blockbusters of the 90s that are always on cable...plus she is on the highest selling soundtrack of all time...I kind of doubt she's THAT broke. Bobby, yes...Adina Howard, yes...T Boz, yes...Whitney? nah

How quickly people forget.

Last time I checked, the album had barely gotten a 1x Platinum certification. Her fans want to make such a big deal out of that saying it was a HUGE success but the reality is, for someone of her caliber who used to sell millions and millions of copies of one album here in the states, "I Look To You" was not a success. I wouldn't call it a failure but, compared to her most of her previous efforts, it was not very successful.

Isn't the general consensus that I Look To You flopped? It had great first week sells, but fell off after. I actually like it, but it isn't the masterpiece that was My Love Is Your Love, still good tho.

And when Whitney divorced Bobby, court documents stated she received $125,000 a month. Which is about 1.5 million a year. Plus she's gonna get $7 million from Sparkle. Homegirl might not have the money she used to have, but broke she is not lol.

I personally don't believe it was flop. Selling a million in these days is a damn good achievement. It's just in articles about Whitney they they always say something along the lines of "failed comeback" or "flopped comeback album." Plus I realize that for some reason Whitney gets a lot of hate on this board and people would spew venom at her if she had Adele's numbers night now..

Whitney has alot of haters..

She's an entertainer isn't she? Well, since she never made entertaining music, you have to find a way to get some type of entertainment out of her or she doesn't live up to her title of being an entertainer. Just making her live up to her title, that's all. If we have to live up to our job titles, then so does she. evillol

What a tragedy, atoothless old crack ho she is now and 20 years ago the most famous singer around, non stop number ones, an astounding voice and the best songs ever made. This is why some people can not handle fame, and unfortunately balck artists handle it less well than anyone else. (I just watched the Frankie Lymon story). Look at all the talents who died broke, or near broke or worn out prematurely before their time. Frankie Lymon, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Paul Williams (Temptations), Florence Ballad, David Ruffin to name a few and even Michael (He was apparently nearly broke when he died and was doing the 50 shows for some moolah).

Whitney Houston's downfall is a tragedy we can all learn from and it should serve to alert people to the dangers of drugs. I honestly see her dying before her 55th birthday and possibly even her 50th, she is sad.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Actually, I find Anita even duller than Shitney but she didn't hit it big until a year later and probably wouldn't have if Shitney hadn't opened the doors for dull. lol As for Sade, I like her.

I Look To You was not a flop. It performed very respectably. Especially for an album that didn't garner any sizeable radio hits.

A lot of Sade's music, especially "Is It A Crime", has a sexy feel to me like picking up a stranger at 2 a.m. in a sexy place like Paris or something and bringing him back to the hotel for a hot night of passion. Shitney and Anita's music has a feel to me of a lonely bright and sunny Sunday afternoon barf with soccer moms holding their hubby's hand watching the kids play. I'm a gay man, I can't relate to that. lol I guess you could say that Sade's music is "escapism" and "fantasy" in regards to things I find exciting and Shitney and Anita's is more "down to earth" and "everyday normal" and every day life is usually dull. I listen to music to feel better and escape every day life for a little while.

It reminds me of a little preppy white girl with a bow in her hair, licking on a big ole huge lollipop, while dancing at a birthday party with balloons and ice cream and cake. Oh honey, I could definitely put a different spin on it. lol

Like the time when she released "I'm Your Baby Tonight". One of my white friends at the time, who loved her music, said "I don't like her new song, she sounds too black". I laughed my ass off and said "What do you mean, hell, she IS black". He said "I know, but she just never seemed like a black girl, not just her voice but everything about her. She just seemed like a nice little white girl even though she's black". I said "Well, that's true.....lol.....but don't worry. She's just desperate right now because she got booed at the Soul Train Awards a little while ago and once she tries to prove something, the little cheerleader will be back, skipping down the road, holding her pom poms". lol

Then she got with Bobby Brown and I laughed my ass off some more. I said "Lord have mercy, she's so desperate now to get that acceptance back by dating just anybody black that she's resorted to molesting children!". See....when New Edition first came out in 1982, they sounded and looked so much younger than what they really were that everyone in school that was my age (10th grade at the time) thought they were little 6th graders or something. Add several years to that when Shitney got with him (and I knew she was a few years older than me) and I thought Bobby Brown was probably recently graduated from high school. Never did I dream that he was only about two years younger than me. lol
