Tal Wilkenfeld is pretty sick on the bass, and very pretty too.

Her debut solo album "Transformation" is a lovely slab of funkyjazzyinstrumental beef, though that was released in 2006. Time for a follow up me thinks.

Among my favorites, Bernard Edwards of Chic had a really nice style--Funky and busy, although he wasn't a slapper--a Kool combination of picking and fingerstyle....and the way he and Nile would lock into a groove was amazing:

An example of his style here- Chic - "Everybody Dance", especially at the 3:00 Mark of the video:

With Sister Sledge - "Thinking Of You"

Chic - "I Want Your Love"

and of course, Chic - "Good Times"

ahhh yes Geezer & Rex Brown are both amazing bass players, sadly have to strongly disagree on Gene though lol

I used to be a big Kiss, still do like them but all there music especially there 70's output is simple stuff. Which isn't bad but i thought Gene & Paul played better in the 80's with Vinnie Vincent & Bruce

I'm tired of the "Gene always sucked ass, even in the 70s" bullshit

Gene's basslines of the 70s are wicked and the SOUND was special, you can say that he had his own sound, something dirty, deep and full of guts. Kiss would have been a whole different band in the 70s without Gene's sound/lines, probably something cleaner/poppier...of course Gene lost it after 77 but that's not the point here, Gene was a DEMON in the 74-77 era...

respect

Eh, i still find his old basslines simple but effective. Just my opinion wink it's cool if you like him i'm not trying to diss.

hhee ok, but just look at the sound of the 100.000 Years intro, for example: a special bass sound, something between Sabbath and Beatles...
