This is from the 1920's You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The Little Richard version reminds me of the movie Christine. Smoking beat and vocal from Richard "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

The 1920s version is so cool, never heard it before. Its no wonder where Big Joe Turner & Pete Johnson got their stuff from after listening to this.
Love the trumpet addlipping

It's kind of long for that time period though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I found this 45 at my grandparents house in the attic when I was a little kid. I took it home and wore it out on my record player. Great song! Didn't know it was a cover from the 20s. Thanks for the info. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
