Impossible Princess appreciation thread

As Kylie celebrates 25 years in the industry let's look back at her most daring era!

6 random Impossible Princess facts

  • After the death of Princess Diana, Impossible Princess was released as Kylie Minogue in the UK, causing much confusion as her most recent previous release had also been self-titled.
  • It was released in Japan two months earlier than anywhere else in the world.
  • One of Kylie’s main influences when writing the album was Garbage – she’d been introduced to their music by then-boyfriend Stéphane Sedanoui [who had previously directed several film clips for Shirley & co].
  • Both “I Don’t Need Anyone” and “Some Kind of Bliss” were written by James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers fame.
  • It was the first album to feature songs composed solely by Kylie. She wrote “Too Far” on a grand piano. Prior to her “indie” phase she’d been too scared to try writing things properly by herself.
  • The video clip for “Some Kind of Bliss” features a rugged-looking Dexter Fletcher.
