Van Halen Reveal Album Art, Release Date
January 2, 2012
The first public reveal of Van Halen's highly anticipated new album took place in New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve.
Artwork for the forthcoming release was projected on a giant LED billboard above the McDonald's at 46th St. and 7th Ave. and could clearly be seen at various points throughout the night, as several networks, including CNN, ABC and NBC, were broadcasting live.
The cover image is a photo-illustration of a train from the New York Central System, one of the largest railroads in U.S. history which operated in the northeast during the 1800s.
The album, Van Halen's first since 1984 to feature original singer David Lee Roth, is due out on February 7, 2012 with a single and video slated to premiere on Jan. 10, the same day tickets go on sale for the band's world tour.
In November, Van Halen signed with Interscope Records after four decades at Warner Bros.

I like the cover btw. Any word on a title???

Maybe the date is the title. They've used numbers before. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I like the album art, although it does remind me of the artistic rendering of a locomotive used as the cover for the Commodores' Movin' On album.

even if it's only decent, this IS the first VH album that should belong in our collection since 1984, for obvious reasons...
EXCITED
I'm not asking for hits, just a kick-ass hard-rock album from start to finish, something like VH1 or WACF

Preview VH's New Song "Blood and Fire" January 25, 2012
Van Halen's new album A Different Kind of Truth will be released in less than two weeks. In the meantime, here's an exclusive 90-second preview of the "Blood and Fire" from the album.
The disc's first single "Tattoo" was based off the group's 1977 unreleased track "Down In Flames"; another track on the album, "She's The Woman," which the group played live at their recent secret show in New York City, was originally recorded as a demo in 1976.
So we offer a challenge to Van Halen's hardcore fans: Does this sound like a completely new song, or do you hear anything that sounds like an old riff or melody? To be very clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a band using old material on a new album.
Groups do it all the time and you can't plagiarize from yourself. In fact, many of Van Halen's most famous songs (including "Right Now") took elements out of older material. We're just curious to know how much of this Van Halen album was created with that process.

All I got to say is true CVH fans are gonna be very happy. The Trouble With Never is just fire! I mean really.Wow. Blood And Fire has that 1984ish quality/magic to it. And yes it's based on an older song Eddie had called "Ripley" which he wrote for the movie The Wild Life in the 80's. But it was just an instrumental then. Everyone sounds great and very inspired. I really can't wait for the album now! Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
