Wow I was just talking to someone about Ms. James the other week. I was wondering if Adele ever met her in person or not before she got too ill. I remember reading earlier this year about her health. She has my prayers.

That first "I heard" in Adele's "Someone Like You" is straight up Etta James all day.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — "At Last" and "Tell Mama" blues singer Etta James, whose health has been fading in recent years, is now terminally ill, and her live-in doctor is asking for prayers.

Dr. Elaine James, who isn't related to the 73-year-old entertainer, tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/tVMtaN ) that the singer's chronic leukemia was declared incurable two weeks ago.

The doctor has cared for Etta James at the singer's Riverside, Calif., area home since March 2010.

Elaine James says she's spreading word of the singer's ailments so people will pray for her. She says fans know Etta James has been sick "but not how sick."

Court records in the singer's probate case show she also suffers from dementia and kidney failure.

Elaine James made her comments outside a Riverside conservatorship hearing over the singer's $1 million estate. The singer's son, Donto James, wants a conservator rather than the singer's husband, Artis Mills.

I'm guessing it's because the situation is gradually getting dire. They weren't saying she was terminally ill when they first reported she had leukemia though. They did say she had health problems but this is the first time that it looks like we may be hearing about Etta being among the living for the last time almost. The reports almost look as if they're about ready to say goodbye to her.

What the hell are prayers going to do? Prayers don't cure terminal illness. They just give hope to the person praying.

It reminded me that Sophie Simmons sang an Etta James song at her parents wedding recently.

Of course its turning into a mess, cause her children think she should be in a hospital, are having fits that her home doctor is telling the press this without their permission and still fighting her ex husband over her money.

Maybe its better just to exhale and be done with it.

Yeah it's a mess. The family feuding is partially the reason Etta's body can't take no more. They keep it up, the obituary will be printed by tomorrow afternoon. smh shame at those folks.

^I hope its a slow news day so Etta gets her due and turns some people on to her talent.

Etta should've been getting more her due when she was alive and kicking (she's still here but barely :-/). It only came in spurts. And I'm already seeing people winding up to say how much she influenced them while she can't even hear them.

I lost my father to leukemia this year. When the time comes for her, may she rest in peace
