5 reasons to be excited about music in 2012 The return of Sleigh Bells and the debut of Spector The Seigh Bells recently dropped the first sing off their upcoming album Reign Of Terror (due feb 21). Their latest single proves their formula is far from tired, the noise pop duo are bringing back the noise with swagger and they've made their most accessible track yet without sacrificing any quality. Look for their new album to shake things up a bit. Across the pond look for the rise of indie rock band "Spector" who's promising debut single has put them at the top of many 2012 rising acts list watch: "What You Wanted" by Spector
Adele's impact on the music industry In 2012 Adele's sales will start to wind down... eventually as soon as they do the music industry will throw every singer/songwriter type they can find at you. Just like the 90s post-jagged little pill industry, expect some great acts to arise from Adele's wake even if many will come off as second rate.
Madonna hits the superbowl, drops her 12th album and Kylie celebrate 25 years Expect nothing less than a media frenzy surrounding the provocateur's performance and upcoming album which promises to be a career highlight. Madonna's aussie contemporary Kylie is building up the anticipation for K25 with great promo and an upcoming orchestral greatest hits album.
Hype act of the year: Lana Del Rey She's hated by every hipster blog on the net, she made a fool of herself on SNL, she gets no airplay, yet her EP shot up to number 2 on the itunes chart. Studio magic or real performing argument aside, Lana's debut album "Born To Die" will be getting plenty of attention, hopefully for it's strong songwritting. Stay tuned!
The comeback of No Doubt and Garbage 90s kids rejoice! Two of the biggest bands of the Clinton era are coming back, with both bands acting coy who knows what to expect. No Doubt have taken their time working on their first full length album in 10 years collaborating with hot producers like Diplo and promising a very radio friends album, while Shirley Manson has been teasing some very lush electronic snippits in anticipation for their comeback.
What are you looking forward too? [Edited 1/21/12 13:24pm] 2012: The Queen Returns

I'm glad Madonna's still doing her thing and that No Doubt is coming back, but I'm still like, "Blah" about this year in music in general. λΉ„

I guess this is what I get for trying to get people excited about music.

Yeah, I appreciate it, but I'm not all that excited. Madonna's album will be worth a listen I'm sure, but I've never been a huge fan.
I don't know, the most I can really hope for this year is a new Prince album, he's the only living and still active musician that I still trust to deliver great albums, even if I didn't like the last one. My other favorites are dead, retired, or only do an album every 5 years or so.
But I'm sure there will be plenty of great albums this year. I'm not pouting. [Edited 1/21/12 14:45pm]

Faith No More have been toying around with a new song during their recent live performances which leads me to believe that there will be A NEW FAITH NO MORE ALBUM (WHAAAAAT?? )
Faith No More is only second to Prince if you ask me. Easily my favorite band of all-time. All-time.
And Im a little late to Adeles party, but I dig her stuff man. Soulful indeed. Get in your mouse, and get out of here!
