What a phenomenal player. I'd love to hear him get away from the metal a bit and do something a bit more southern rock - like in the chicken pickin' video (wow!). I didn't even know he could do that sort of thing, but why not - I think he's one of the best players today.

Dude also scares me quite a bit - intense personalities like that usually do. But I did some research and he seems like a pretty cool guy.

I always had mixed feelings on Zakk, in some interviews he came off as a tough biker dude asshole. Who happened to be badass at guitar, but after listening to his bluesy southern rock album Book Of Shadows. And seeing videos of him playing guitar with his daughter, he seems like a cool person after all & has his soft moments to.

BTW Book oOf Shadows! check it out wink

It's all blues/southern rock & even classical! go read reviews on Amazon.com about it.... it's probably Zakk's best, it's not heavy at all..... it seems he really like's doing this stuff the most.

Book of Shadows, the clips on amazon sound interesting! I had no idea about this. I still think he'd be great in an Allman Brothers king of gig, and I don't really need to hear the guy sing so much as play guitar lol

I have been a fan since seeing him on the No More Tears Tour in 1991 at the Warfield in SF. I was blown away by his ability to play the Randy Rhoads material note for note. I also enjoyed seeing him at a couple of Ozzfests because you got to see him twice. His band BLS would open the show and then he played with Ozzy at the end.

Here is some audio from an Allman Brothers gig in 1993 that Dickey Betts couldn't make and Zakk filled in at the last minute.

That was pretty cool, he sure can sound Allman-y when he wants to. I wish he could put the shredding thing on the shelf for a full-out southern rock project, but he doesn't seem interested.

I have the Pride and Glory album and quite like it but I have not heard any of his other stuff. He seems better suited to the role of second banana rather than front man. Great guitarist but not much of a singer.

He tries to hard to sing like Ozzy, he can deny it all he wants... but when he sings he is doing his best ozzy impression.
