Don't really like "Express Yourself", though it's ok. But it's no 'Angel', 'Material Girl', 'Like A Virgin' or 'Dress You Up'.

'Angel' and 'Dress You Up,' I never need to hear again.

Really? Those are my two favorites on the album.

Jermaine (1980) is the only album I ever heard, and I liked it (didn't love), but his hits I always thought were terrible ('Let Me Tickle Your Fancy' especially). That new song that leaked recently was good, too.

'Love Song' is good.

'Till Death Do Us Part' is my 2nd favorite on the album, after 'Like A Prayer'. I do love both of these songs.

'Promise To Try' is ok, but I don't really like Madonna's voice much for slow songs.

'Cherish' is pleasant, but boring. I feel the same way about "Dear Jessie". I'm just gonna skip it now.. these songs are too long. And on to another slow song.. I already don't like it either.

'Keep It Together' is good enough, but I don't like her message songs for whatever reason.

I don't know, the album overall is good, but I don't see what's so amazing about it that it can be considered her best album, or one of the greatest albums of all time.

Done listening to it. "Spanish Eyes" I liked; "Act Of Contrition" I didn't. Overall, the album was fine, but I doubt I'll revisit it often, aside from "Like A Prayer" and "Till Death Do Us Part". I stand by my comment that Like A Vrigin is better.

[Edited 1/21/12 15:31pm]

I guess Madonna fans just have different opinions:

1. Like A Prayer- Pure Genius. Just genius

2. Express Yourself- This song shits all over Material Girl (which shares a similar message) both the techno and funk versions are irresistable and contain one of her best hooks ever made

3. Love Song- Underrated Gem. Love Prince's vocals and Madonna's too

4. Til Death Do Us Part- My 2nd least favorite song on the album

5. Promise to Try- It's okay. Not bad but not amazing

6. Cherish- So happy and fun. Love the bass and horns. Extremely catchy and semi-funky

7. Dear Jessie- I hate this song. I wish Supernatural took its place. One of her most boring and plain songs ever.

8. Oh Father- Absolutely love this song. One of her most lyrically mature songs in her career. So emotional, so touching

9. Keep It Together- Another amazing track on this album. The lyrics, the music. Everything about this song is amazing. Extremely catchy too

10. Spanish Eyes- Love it. I wish her vocals were better, but I stil love it.

11. Act Of Contrition- Awesome song. Another stand out. Love it so much!!

biggrin Let Me Tickle Your Fancy is my favorite, too! I was never crazy about the title track, but I really like the rest of the album! But it had the misfortune of coming out in Summer of 82', just before Thriller landed in the Fall of that year....

I didn't recall liking it... then after listening to it, I realised it's good, but I still don't think it's great. I wrote that post as I was listening to the album, and I kept going back and adding stuff after each song.
