Lana Del Rey!

Heard the whole controversy about her SNL performance, went and listened to some of her stuff, and am now a fan of hers.

Takes me back to '94!

She doesn't seem to take her "artistry" seriously, brushing off the whole SNL performance thing. If she doesn't care so much she shouldn't perform and leave it to people who care.

After her less than stellar performance on SNL here's what she had to say about it...

This past Saturday (Jan. 14), Lana Del Rey appeared on "Saturday Night Live" as the musical guest and, well, it didn't go very well. Then to add insult to injury, NBC newsman Brian Williams sent an email to Gawker empire founder Nick Denton criticizing Del Rey's performance.

Lana is now speaking out about her debacle, as she talks about how weird it can be to perform live.

"I find it weird ... sometimes. [It] depends on the day. You know, like, [it] depends on what's going on with my family and everyone around me. If I have other things to think about, or I'm trying to get things done for somebody else, and I'm not in my own way, then ... I'm like, 'This doesn't really matter,'" Del Rey tells MTV."Sometimes it seems more important to me than other times, I don't know."

But as for the "SNL" performance, she says things are cool.

"Things are cool. They always will be, whether the music goes good or not," she says. "Like, I consider being able to sing a luxury, it doesn't run my life, it's not my main focus. I love it, I feel grateful. I'm honored to be on 'SNL' I'm happy to be here, but if I didn't have it, I'd be happy too."

Don't get me wrong... her performance SUCKED, but I think the media majorly exaggerated the level to which it sucked.

I have definitely seen worse SNL performances!

Sure she shouldn't have responded but I actually like this response. Better she be this way then to take the whole situation out of context like everbody else. She could either drink herself into a coffin a la Amy Whinehouse or sit blocked like D'Angelo for over a decade worrying about world expectations?!? Her approach is the way to go if you ask me.

And Brian Williams: PLEASE at least try and act like you have a career as a serious journalist!

Kanye West is a given for one of the worst but alas, there are three "performers" that are actually worse:

Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson and Britney Spears, who didn't even bother trying to sing as they lip-sanc the entirety of their performances!

People still dog Ke$ha, but in all honesty she wasn't a dissappoinment at all; She sounds JUST like her record. And the kookiness of her sets came off as low budget Gaga. Campy? Maybe. Awful? A matter of taste within the perspective of party girl athema. Worst? Hell no!

I guess I'm the only one who thought the vocals were on point. I love all the inflections and the somber nature of it all. cool

Well I guess the same SNL push that helped Adele two times in a row with her two albums didn't quite help with Lana but I guess her EP debuting at number twenty is impressive. "Video Games" also made a debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at number ninety-one so I don't know how to feel about that?

Usually bands have rehearsed endlessly & toured their asses off before getting offered SNL. Doesn't appear this girl has. And yes it kind of showed in her performance. I didnt think it was as ghastly as ppl made out though.. Just not great. Her pitch was just abit off around the start of "blue jeans" and in general she had zero stage presence. She just kind of hovered awkwardly stroking her hair repeatedly..? I think ppl were expecting to be wowed and well.. that did not happen.

I think she just needs time to 'find herself' on stage - more live experience, more gigs.. I mean she only got offered the spot after releasing 1 single!

The "video games" song is beautiful I think.. depressing as shit but yeah still a beautiful song

It just goes to show how coming across good on record AND live are two VERY different things
