Van Hagar songs that you want to hear David Lee Roth sing With the new/old Van Halen tour in effect, are there any songs from the Van Hagar years that you (a) want to hear them perform and (b) would be a good fit for DLR's voice & personality?
Here's my two:
1. Finish What Ya Started "C'mon Baby! Ow. ... Just walk away if I fall shy at all..." This always seemed like a good fit for DLR to me.
2. Why Can't This Be Love "Whoa, here it comes, that funny feeling again..." This might be a stretch, but it's one of the more fun Van Hagar hits. I like when they used to sing "Ed's got what it takes" sometimes.

Right Now Finish What Ya Started Source Of Infection[The most David like track they did post 1984] Dreams[Could for sure see David hyping this one up]
Sadly i don't think this will happen/: even though Sammy sang a few David era songs Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I think it would be a little demeaning for David Lee Roth to sing Sammy Hagar stuff. Van Hagar simply does not compare to the real thing.

Absolutely! Don't mind some of the Hagar stuff, but it just isn't Van Halen.

In Genesis concerts, Phil Collins would sing songs from the Peter Gabriel days. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't know a lot about Genesis, but those must have been songs Phil played on anyway, and were part of his own history.
Sammy was VH's fallback bitch. He did a fine job, but how could Dave possibly relate to those songs? Not to mention the widely held view that many or most of them just aren't sexy.

I would like to see David Roth sing the hits of the Sammy Hagar era of Van Halen but to be honest he doesnt have the vocal chops to sing them therefore he is better off doing what he does well. Also he is unable to cover any of the guitar or keybord parts of the material.

Bingo. Better to do what you do well, than to invite unfavorable comparisons.
