Angel Grant - Lil Red Boat (Jam & Lewis) Anyone remember this? Produced by Jam and Lewis and released on the short lived Flyte Tyme label. The album wasn't half bad. Definitetly Janet throwaways were used.
Jam & Lewis used Angel to sing demos for Janet and work out the vocal arrangments before Janet got to the studio. She sounds like Janet circa All For You and after that.

I have her cd. It was ok. I liked Kisses Luv Lips too. I wonder what she's up to now. I'm gonna have to look her up.

I guess you have now!
It had potential, but she never really came through the music. People didn't connect with her at all.

I just finished listening to the album. Not your stereotypical Jam & Lewis pop/rock/R&B/funk/hip-hop/dance production. Very soft, tranquil, mellow; almost verging on new age. The music sounds nothing like what was in vogue at the time (not that that's a bad thing). I here more Syreeta than Janet. [Edited 1/18/12 11:14am]

I remember seeing the video on BET when it aired. Sadly she never got that far after that. She must've gotten overwhelmed by the music business (like most).

she axed her own career by not showing up for a industry showcase in new york city. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman
