Brother please. I got a problem when a woman lose more weight than she should. Jennifer Hudson and Janet (sometimes) scare me when they lose weight. So it ain't no double standard with me.

I'm kinda under the impression that most of these Unsungs especially from the first season on ain't as much about "unsung" than about telling the stories of artists whose lives we've known little about and could also be used as promotion for their latest projects much like Behind the Music has done. Just my thoughts.

Well I think Millie Jackson and Ray Parker Jr fit the unsung profile, as did Vesta and Womack's messy ass "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

And I don't get why people are down on Jennifer. I've seen her on several shows over the past couple of weeks and she looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY!!! She is in no way skinny. She's at a healthy, normal weight.
But, my point is, even though a lot of people have been down on Jennifer for losing weight, no one has accused her of being sick or being ill. But, when a man loses alot of weight, often times, people will say there must be something wrong with him. [Edited 1/17/12 16:40pm] "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! Bobby is not so unsung as far as R&B history goes, maybe in pop/rock history he is, but not R&B. Vesta is definitely unsung because she didn't get pushed properly. Ray Parker, Jr. has performed so many genres I can see why it'll be hard to establish him. Millie has been under the meter for so long in R&B.

Maybe to you, but I don't see it. But hey, if that's how you see it, hey. I don't think it is though.

Well, you know my issues with this Series and its title.
As far as these artist lives, I don't give hoot but you know that too.
Didn't I say a couple of threads ago I'd about that series, the flesh is weak.

Well I saw Freddie live. He was touring with Najee and Me'lissa Morgan.
Freddie was the headliner. when he took the stage, the first 2 rows were empty. Some Asians who I think were smooth jazz enthusiast had filled the first 2 rows and when Najee's set was over, they booked.
So I'm sure that didn't sit too well for Freddie. And then quite frankly after listening to him for 30 minutes, I was ready to go also.
sorry but Freddie's voice was very shaky and tremulous. And he did a lot of swooping.
You are my Lady... a favorite song of mine sounded like it was being sung by the advanced adult women's choir. In other words sung by a bunch of old church ladies.
Not a good show at all. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

They look like Lakeside on crack.
On a serious note the i dug the music. I would say i enjoy this music moreso than a lot of Freddie's solo material. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

Prodigal fan, when was that performance of Freddie's that you attended?
I am wondering because it sounds like it was after the peak periods of his career.
His music was extremely popular on Chicago radio, particularly on the quiet storm shows and top 8 at 8 PM shows.
He did a classly job, similar to his classy music, when he was a co-anchor of BET news.

As phunkdaddy already mentioned about Lakeside. At that time the costume concept was still active. Lakeside did the genie-outfits around those years and kept on changing their themes with every new album after that (Mob/Gangsters, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Patrol Army, etc). Flashy costumes with rhinestones and all that were still worn at 80's live shows from various artists. Prince was one that brought some change in the scene with the new-wave look, Vanity/Apollonia 6 exposed the burlesque theme and The Time rocked the zoot suits, stetsons and Stacy Adams.

I agree with you on that Timmy84. Many are not "unsung" but I do enjoy seeing stories about them that I knew nothing about. They are always interesting to me! Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

Freddie lost all that weight so long ago that I hadn't thought much about it lately. I admit my first thought back then was that he had been or was ill as well. Meanwhile, it didn't help his appearance at all! I know people who are overweight don't want to hear that they looked better when they were big, but Freddie...... Never trust anything spoken in the presence of an erection.

But Freddie just looks sickly. One thing if he lost weight and looked healthy. Thank You San Alejo for getting rid of my enemies. :-0

Something unfortunate possibly happened when he lost weight, but you can't wish for someone to live an obese life with all the health risks.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I bet his doctors disagree. Doesn't matter about looks. Being obese is unhealthy, period. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

He'd look worse lying in a coffin because he died from obesity-related health issues. Guys, we need to move past he or she doesn't look right after weight loss. Of course someone is going to look different after years of obesity. But, we are talking about saving lives and being healthty. I've lost too many people (especially men) to obesity-related illnesses than any thing else. This is a very serious issue to me. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.!
