SADE -What's up? The tour over? What's next? Last I heard was a concert video to be released and directed by Sophie Muller. Can't wait for that! ThankUPrince!

I've been waiting for that dvd for a while now, too. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Same here...since I saw her perform last summer. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

there is a HD CAM of the show of excellent quality on the intranets... Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman

the dvd was announced to be released some time around Valentine's Day but I'm doubting that it will be released at that time.

It's Sade, so we know what's up.
The lingering bliss of her transcedent tour will fade. We'll kind of forget about her and the band, at least Sade will not be in the forefront of our minds. We're used to Sade's non-public nature, so we won't think too much of her absence.
Before we know it, 7 or 8 years will pass, and Sade will reappear looking exactly the same (cherry-red lipstick and all) despite being around 60 years old, and sounding like she and the band never went away. The band will release an album that will remind us all why we loved Sade so much in the first place. A successful tour will ensue, and then we'll be left to ponder yet again whether this is the last time we've seen Sade. [Edited 1/12/12 13:26pm]

Sade and the band sure brought it this time... She and Prince must drink from the same fountain... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

So true! She'll walk off into the sunset with the coolness. Less is more with Sade and the band. I have seen some new concert footage online. I missed this tour so, hopefully the DVD will be great. ThankUPrince!

Why isn't Sade known as the progenitor of the ill-named neo-soul movement, and not D'Angelo, Maxwell and Erykah Badu?
Think about it (I'm too tired to think about it).

eehhh.. from my perspective Sade's "fountain" is in a much better, purer place than prince's..
I did have the immense aural pleasure of seeing Sade in concert (for the 1st time in well over 10 years) here in Denver.
the show was - obviously - BRILLIANT.
on top of that.. she actually did THREE OF MY FAVORITE SADE SONGS consecutively
IS IT A CRIME LOVE IS STRONGER THAN PRIDE ALL ABOUT OUR LOVE
how did she know I was in the audience?? was she actually singing to me???
then she sang "kiss of life" & I started crying (like I almost always do when I hear this song.. I'm not sure why I do.. this song just gets to me..)
I'll see you tonight..

I also give Sade credit - the singer & the group - for managing to :
+ "stay true" to their core style of music while still offering up some variations to their theme. hit or miss, like or dislike some (or most) of their songs.. you basically know what you're going to get when you hear a Sade song/record.
in other words - they have masterfully developed, cultivated, elevated & maintained the "Sade brand"
+ in this age of overexposure & "hey look at me" nonsense that is far too prevelant.. NOT oversaturate the market/public or be overexpose in all media outlets & for understanding that there is much more to life than simply writing/playing/music & touring almost non-stop
I personally would prefer to hear from them about every 5 years instead of every 10 years or more.. but they know what they're doing.. & as artists, they understand that unless they really believe they have something to say musically, they are going to get on with their lives & do other things that define them more as people & not "just musicians".
I'll see you tonight..

I've liked the last couple of posts you've had, but this comment was right on point. the beauty of her latest shows has been how deeply affecting, moving, mature and classy they've been. A lot of performers are interested in their "brand" at the expense of heart and quality. Sade -- the group -- brought the best of it. And Ms. Adu seems to know her audience almost like family, because she built a setlist like she'd lived inside my head for 25 years.
They hit all the right notes. Even consummate performers could take notes, in terms of not only producing a performance but staging an experience. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

You've all summed up Sade beautifully. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

AN EXPERIENCE is the correct term for those who saw the recent tour... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato
