One of my all-time favorite songs Gotta love that bassline. My favorite part is the last minute or so,when they repeat the lyric...life going nowhere.....somebody help me,yeah....I'm stayin' aliiiiiiiivvvvvvveeeeeeee
The Saturday Night Fever soundtrack was more than an album,it was an EVENT.I had never seen anything else like it.The hype, success and impact of that album was very similiar to what we saw in 1983 with MJ's Thriller.

Yep. Compared to now, the media the PR macihine for films was small and contained. The movie and the soundtrack took off because of word of mouth. I'm sure people catching the coming attractions in movie theatre went along way in making the movie and score a mega hit.
My mother and I had gone to the movies to see "Close Encounter of the Third Kind" and S.N.F. was one of the movies in the coming attractions. As you said, the bass hook and film starting with showing John's red platform shoes and black slacks ..... priceless. The opening shot and that song, it just grabbed ya. ============================= [Edited 1/20/12 9:28am]

As overplayed as it is, I have to dedicate this record to Robin Gibb. Keep on fighting the good fight.
