Another NAMM Show has come and gone.
Unfortunately, each year I see fewer and fewer of the goodies.

For those interested, here are a few sites that have pretty intensive coverage on various products.
NAMM.org: http://www.namm.org/thenammshow/2012
MIX Magazine: http://mixonline.com/namm...12_report/
Electronic Musician Magazine: http://www.emusician.com/namm2012
Premier Guitar: http://www.premierguitar....Day_1.aspx
Sound On Sound Magazine: http://www.soundonsound.c...latestnews
Gearwire: http://www.gearwire.com/w...-2012.html

Others can be found by doing a web search (NAMM 2012 coverage).

There were two items however I was determined to check out.

Kemper Profiling Amplifier...

...Profiling Fender & Soldano amps

This is like some space age, alien technology...ufo
Somehow this Kemper box has the ability to "suck" in the characteristics of any guitar amplifier.
Imagine having a number of classic & boutique amps at your disposal in a single device the size of a lunch box.

Having to be up and alert in the venue every morning by 9am, i've learned to pick my spots in relation to after-show activities.

Thursday night 1/19
Audio-Technica 50th Anniversary Celebration
Dave Koz (emcee) with the Gregg Field Big Band (featuring Dean Parks on guitar)
Nikki Yanofsky, Mindi Abair, Siedah Garrett, Monica Mancini, Arturo Sandoval, Jim Brickman, BeBe Winans and Patti Austin

http://www.audio-technica...b0ec50d92/

Friday night 1/20
27th Annual TEC AWards
The highlight being Steve Vai receiving the Les Paul Award.
His acceptance speech and performance made sitting through the front end of this event worthwhile.

...Tribute

...Acceptance Speech

...Tender Surrender

...The Crying Machine

http://mixonline.com/news...l_winners/

Unfortunately this created a scheduling conflict with the Bootsy Collin's set earlier...

...John Lennon Tour Bus Stage (horrible sound)

From what I understand, this concert got streamed on YouTube.

And Allan Holdsworth's set later on...

...Sabian LIVE

Along with drummer Tony Royster Jr....

...Sabian LIVE
(first tune is a nice take on Soulive's Shaheed)

Saturday and Sunday night were devoted to dinner with friends and straight to bed...zzz

Thank you for uploading these videos. Its gooood to see Bootsy keeping the REAL funk alive! And Steve Vai--the genius of his guitar virtuosity is second to none-- a true musician. You were so fortunate to have seen the show.

I would loved to have gotten a close-up look at the new bass Bootsy was presented, designed by his son Ouiwey and built by Warwick.

Since we're on the subject of bass, there's always the musical surprises you run into...

...Wojtek Pilichowski (Poland)

Unfortunately, you can't hear the backing track very well.
He's incorporated Mark King's "slap ring" on his thumb.
