That was fucking awful. I'm not a fan of Mr. Thicke and I fucking hate Nikki Minaj. I hate these white boys tryna be black, like a wise person said "everybody wants to be black without being black." Justin Timbershit is the same damn way. Goddamn posers make me sick to my fucking stomach.

I don't think he's trying to be black. He was just more influenced by R&B music. Did you ever accuse Teena Marie or Lisa Stansfield of trying to be black? Or how about Micheal Jackson, Prince, Siedah Garrett, Sandra St. Victor or Tina Turner of trying to be white because they've recorded Rock music, or music that is typically associated with whites? Since Lionel Ritchie recorded a Country & Western album, is he trying to be white?

I agree.Robin is genuinely into R&B music. It's not an "act".He's not trying to be black. In my opinion,he does an outstanding job with his brand of R&B.You can tell that he was influenced by the greats (Marvin Gaye,Al Green,Curtis Mayfield, etc). There are alot of black R&B artists today who aren't even making genuine R&B.They're more concerned with making pop and hip-hop.At least Robin keeps it real most of the time.

Nah he can do real good R&B, it's just that at other times he "tries too hard". lol Come on, does anyone think him being with Lil Wayne is a good thing. He ain't trying to be black I don't think though. But he SHOULD know his limits. Like if you're gonna do uptempo records and such, either dance or stick to the slower, mid-tempo songs. And if you are gonna dance, work at it lmao

Thank You. People trying to cosign this fraud.. bored2. The main song I really like from him was Magic but he need to have a seat though I got the chair ready.

Really? Maybe a few of them can but that average straight guy? - No! I've seen so many dancefloors all over Europe and this is my honest impression. If a straight white guy can dance it's by learning while ourselfs do it naturally, that's the difference! lol

I'm glad you added the caucasian factor...because in Latin America, any straight man that CAN'T dance is pretty much handicapped.

lol

True dat.

I'd say Indian also.

About the bolded part - I can see people accusing him of "trying to be black," but then everyone can see that coming, including himself, so I think he must really really really believe in the style of music he's doing in order to put himself out there knowing the kind of looks and criticism he's gonna get. The average white guy who doesn't really love R&B isn't going to risk it - so I gotta say he's got some balls, even to go out there and dance like a fool. He's committed.

Btw, his wife is black and she's smoking hot gorgeous!

He ain't tryin' to be black but most of his material ain't hittin' on shit, either.

That wack ass track he did with Pharrell - garbage

Duet with Lil Wayne - garbage

Duet with Lil Kim 2.0 lite, uh...I mean Nicki Minaj - garbage.

As far as I know, he has two decent songs - When I get You Alone and Lost Without You; neither of which are hardcore R&B. Dude is a pop artist with an R&B flavor.

He'll be one of many:

  • Smokey Robinson
  • Mary Wilson
  • The Four Tops (yeah I said it)
  • The DeBarges/El DeBarge (seriously they dance with two left feet, El's dancing makes me cringe)
  • Keri Hilson (though I don't know if she's even consider music lol )
  • Mary J. Blige (though I love her TWO-STEP lmao)
  • Whitney Houston (no brainer lol )
  • Lionel Richie
  • Lady Tee at the beginning of her career (her "Behind the Groove" dance was hilarious)
  • Patti LaBelle (yeah I know but seriously she can't, she can roll down on the floor good though)
  • Aretha Franklin (to defend her though she's only doing what people do when they get the Holy Ghost)
  • Mariah Carey (she shouldn't even dance or do dance music anymore, just sing ballads from now on)

So Robin's part of a good group. Add more if y'all need to or disagree with some of my choices I don't care. popcorn

And Timerblake. He can't dance well either.

Edit - Or Timberlake even.

When I thought about it, I couldn't honestly comment on Korean dancing.

"Some really awesome dancers" I would expect in any culture.

I was thinking more general population. Like walking into a club.

To be honest i dont know why Dancing comes up so much on this forum? Maybe its the MJ and everything jackson Madonna influence and since they danced everyone has to be able to, just like every female has to sing like aretha or their shit. I dont really care that Robin cant dance or did some lame moves here, who cares, its not dancing with the stars, we should be bringing up songs and style and how this song song and alot of Robin's vocals are very very typical in style to that of Justin and any slew of rb singers nowadays and its been this trend of no one really having fucking soul in soul music anymore, not that he cant bust a move. Shit Daryyl Hall does soul music, but i would rather not see him doing a moonwalk while bouncing Nicki Minaj on stage. I mean i would hear this everytime Prince would do a show, "wow he didnt dance that much" shit hes 53 let him rest for god sakes, and also people forget Prince got injured badly, surgically, back in 1998 had to cancel part of a short tour, and that ended that style of his dancing. But enough is enough, im glad Prince doesnt dance anymore, as for Robin not really a big fan of his, Nicki looks sexy, the song is purely an attempt to get back on radio big time and video, so that is what it is.

^actually I agree.

I for one am sick of every "singer" who has to do an entire dance routine for a song.

MJ did it... and that was his schtick. His vocals were better than average... but not legendary like Vandross, and Hathaway. But MJ made it worked.. and his dancing was an intergral part of "his style".

And for a singer... he was the best dancer.

Now we have people who are top of the game... and their vocals are average or subpar... and their dancing is no where in the same universe as MJ's dancing... yet they continue with the same dance routine with background dancers. It is really getting tiresome.

I would rather people put energy to the music and lyrics... forget the damn dancing and clothes.

If I want to see dancing.. I can watch a ballet. If I want to see some fly clothes.. then I can tune into a fashion show.

If I want to hear some good music... stop distracting me with some bs dancing.

Yeah, he can't dance for shit but I don't think he was ever claiming he had skills at it. Just because he likes to move doesn't mean he thinks he's great at it, and I've never see him say that either.
