Johnny Pacheco ~ Que No Muera El Son You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Lawd...I remember my parents playing Johnny Pacheco's music in the house all the time. I can still hear that 'flute' sound in my head when I think about that. When I was a kid growing up. All I remember is hearing the term 'Pachanga" around his name. A lot of West Indian folks from the U.S. Virgin Islands, around my parents younger days, listened to this type of music.

^^I used to hear the Fania All Stars. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
