Aretha was in Atlanta for several days for Saturday's Trumpet Awards and she shed a little light on her surgery

Aretha Franklin received a Trumpet Award Saturday evening in Atlanta for her late father C.L. Franklin. Accompanied by her fiancee1, Ms. Franklin looked quite elegant in a Versace blue gown.

She was on CNN this morning in a taped interview with Soledad O'Brien and she revealed that she had a tumor which was the reason for her surgery. O'Brien tried to get more out of her, but Franklin was dodgey as usual, always controlling the flow from her info dissemenation.

On Jan. 13th Franklin will be in Washington DC to tape the BET Honors show where her good friend Stevie Wonder is being honored. On the bill that night also are" Patti LaBelle, John Legend, Common and Terrence Howard, who said that Mary J. Blige was The Queen of Soul at the DIVAS 2011 show.

Franklin was photographed with Tyrese Gibson, Blair Underwod and more at the Trumpet Awards.

We may never get the complete story. Oh, well. It's her own business. shrug In the meantime, I'm glad she's well.

And the more I watch Aretha work the media, the more I really dig her savvy. From having to put Fantasia in her place to this whole medical episode, she exudes the refined grace of 6 decades in the biz, with an equal share of potency in getting her point across... particularly when her point is "stand down, fools." smile

While on the road, Aretha loves for her tour bus to stop at WalMarts and Cracker Barrels.

On her way to Atlanta she created quite at a North Carolina Cracker Barrel, and on Sunday, Jan. 8th on her way to D.C. she stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Salisbury, NC and the nearby WalMart.

On Saturday in D.C. she will take part in the BET Honors along with Patti LaBell, John Legend, Common, Cicely Tyson, Willlow Smith and others.

This year's honorees include Stevie Wonder.
