He was def trigger happy, I never heard of the JB incident though I doubt it, considering that JB was as trigger happy too, and crazier than a fish with titties.
God bless the dead.
Nah it's true, I don't know when this occurred. I'm gonna say it was in either the late '60s or early '70s when that incident occurred. I believe it was at a dressing room backstage. I think Wilson was feeling some type of way with James. I forgot what the actual story was but fortunately no guns popped off. They made up I guess because Wilson and James sang on the same stage when James had his Montreux show around '89.
Crazy is, as crazy does.

Mr.Pickett must've been one gutsy man to be running up on James Brown. Wow.
The brother was gutsy enough to shoot at TWO ISLEY BROTHERS!
Again with the Isley Bros what happend there? And how in the hell he lived long enough without a bullet in his ass - no disrespect - but man, talk about forgiveness.

That one's on JET archives if you go to Google books. They were on some boating trip and I guess Wilson wasn't getting paid by one or two of them so he tried to open up shop on the ones he felt were really responsible (O'Kelly and Rudy). I don't think Ron was involved.
You know the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, right? I think Wilson definitely had that in him. They didn't call him the "Wicked" one for nothing... that said, I think drugs and alcohol may have affected his mood.
Now, he might've been old but you could def see the fire was brewing beneath the old age. I esp laughted @ him in Soul To Soul when he pushed one of the crowd off the stage while he was performing.

I didn't even know they worked together.
But see this is odd, I don't think they worked together but I think Wilson and the Isleys were friends. I can believe that. Lots of soul artists were familiar with each other enough to hang out that they didn't even have to do music (like Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson for instance).

^ It's real good. I saw it on Black Starz a while back... never understood why Mary Wilson was on there. But Wilson was real fun. I loved his Aretha story when he went to her house and noticed that she was pregnant and she asked "whose baby that is" and Aretha being Aretha, playing on the piano, looked at him in her usual cool manner and said, "it sure ain't yours" and went back playing on the piano. Wilson bugged out after that.

Makes ya wonder did old Wicked get a taste of the queen and thought maybe the baby could be his......

Why the hell they call Bobby The Preacher when he done sinned enough for 5 lifetimes? Talk about irony or else someone was trying to be funny.
They called him that because most of his songs sounded like sermons if you listened carefully. It actually did. Besides it ain't like he'd be the first "preacher" that sinned "a whole lot". Least he wasn't a member of the pulpit, don't make it any better but still... plus he probably got his singing style from his preacher father anyway.
Sam, Marvin, Al, Bobby, Aretha, I think all of them could relate to being preacher's children and dealing with two different worlds. The holy and the not-so-holy and their struggles to merge the two. There's always been that saying that preacher's children are the wildest.

Wasn't there also a hunting trip, where they left him in the parking lot? So in return, The "Wicked" Mr. Pickett started busting caps through the Isley's Motel room door
