"hazel/isley shit"?....."surpass zappa in 4 years"?

Ummmm NO I don't think so.

?uest knows how to hype but it's a good (and sometimes comical) hype.

Still looking foward to the new release whatever decade it comes out.

Yeah I love D, but before he surpasses Zappa there's quite a long list to go through! Lol!!!
I know, I'm a lifelong guitarist. It can be a beautiful fulfilling journey of learning, playing guitar! .

Amen sunlite! Nothing better than learning something new that you didn't know before.

....And I'm sure you know Zappa's stuff is no joke on the guitar.

Nothing against D because w/ all the time that he's had off I'm sure he's learned a few things on the guitar. But I'm not expecting him to rip out "Maggot Brain" (circa 78) or "Who's That Lady" anytime soon.

LMFAO @ those recent pictures........ I'm over D'Angelo. Him & Lauryn are done. I just never understood why people waste their God-given talents. Its not even about the money or the fame.... but if you were born to do this then why aren't you doing it?

No, I don't think that, but I can only imagine horror stories like him showing up late for concerts. I doubt it, but after the last few years, God knows what's going on in D'Angelo's mind.

Nah, when D goes on tour he is professional. Its a good thing jesse isnt part of it actually because that dude is very unreliable it seems.

The idea of D making jesse famous is out the window now.

from 2uestlove yall

i guess i can answer some stuff.....

Ray Angry has replaced Pookie on Keys
Jef Lee Johnson had to replace Jesse Johnson

(both called away on family emergencies)

although im salty about the jesse angle not going down (im kinda co-MD of the show, so i will say that i used jesse as a MAJOR excuse for D to get his Parade Tour on with the arrangments....ESPECIALLY the revamped Brown Sugar which we morphed into Mutiny 2012.

i can't wait til years from now when these rehearsal jams make their way to collectors so yall can hear the massive funk goin on.

can talk about the set list.

but i guess i can mention

if the soultronics were more JBs 70
then this new band (god i don't even know if im allowed to leak out the name.....and i named em!) is straight up on some Funkadelic "Say Brother" type shit.

yes d is n physical fine form, back to his muscular skinny self where the Voodoo tour last left us....actually its more muscles cause he went hard into marshall arts.

his hair is way longer so i dunno which way he's gonna rock it. his fro is fuller than mine. but he's been rocking plats so its up in the air. on the real i would actually rock it like george in that say brother clip (the quasi mohawk ish if i was him

uh...damn i really stepping on shaky ground here cause i dont know what im allowed to say and what im NOT allowed to say....

they are rocking like 4 or 5 of the new joints.

i guess the only cat imma let out the bag (only cause im so proud of his progress, but he's shy about it so i know he dont want me to put him on the spot like this)

but man....

the only good that came out this 11 year freeze?

his guitar playing.

and i dont mean that hill/3000/wayne guitar playing.

i dont even mean that kravitz playing......

i mean that hazel shit. that ernie isley shit......

if i ever seen evidence of that gladwell 100000 ish?

this is that.

i feel like he's stepping on holy ground if he dont come out the gate like frank zappa.

ill say this much.

if he practices as much as he is now? (5 hours a day)

he could surpass zappa in about 4 years.

THATS how good he is now.

aight.

you didnt hear this from m

SHIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!

He wasn't gonna make anyone famous. He just needs to focus on himself. Still hope the tour goes well and it leads to him finally releasing his 20, er, 12-year long album.

Sounds like it's going about how I expected. I pro-D'angelo, but I still have very little faith that this is going to go off as planned.

-------------------------------------------------

As far as D or Ms. Hill making a comeback to the level at which they previously existed in pop culture - very unlikely. Ten years in the current music business is an entire career, sometimes more than. They'll be able to do what they like if they can keep their shit together because of their OLD fans, but I don't see much more than that happening. Particularly with Lauryn Hill, sad to say.

Pfff... Exaggerate much? The hype machine is working overtime I see...

Compared to Isley and Hazel D'angelo IS Wayne... Comparing his playing to 2 of the most amazing guitar gods is quite insulting to their unmatched skills...

And, seriously, even the mentioning of Zappa...

Sure, D'angelo made some nice songs, but, seriously, ZAPPA?!

That's like saying Barry Manilow has the skills to come out like Nine Inch Nails...

Whatever Quest be smoking he needs to quit! I remember those dumbass remarks he said on that girl which is why I dont take ish he says seriously...

In the essay he was implying that Beyonce was better than Michael and this fool gave reasons step by step. He implied Michaels success came to him easily versus Beyonces.... It makes me so angry just thinking about his comments...but you guys his implications were very clear but it was to boost Beyonce more than Michael and to downplay Michaels accomplishments compared to Beyonce.

I am not going to post his comments here because this thread isnt about that this is about Dangelo but his comments caused a big controversy and then when he got bashed he backtracked his comments...
