Trying to get into Marvin Gaye. What album should i buy?.

Rather obvious, but try "What's Going On."

I agree. Let's Get it On and I Want You are also required listening, but "What's Going On" is probably the best place to start....

I too, think that What's Goin' On is where you should start. It's his

masterpiece and I think it's the best pop recorded album of all time.

Can't tell you where to start, but my favorite by him is "I Want You". The double cd deluxe has the original songs as well as alternate mixes and some other tid bits. Beautiful.

for generic overview go for and greatest hits cd. his personal best were his trilogy in the early 70s -

what's going on, let's get it on and i want you. another personal fav is the sndtrk to Trouble Man-quite jazzy but great after dinner listening,imo.

What's Going On.

All of his material is good. Whats going On is very politically based not sure what route your going for...

i started with whats going on and i wish i woulda started with I want you. just sayin
