Diddy Defends His Bad Boy Label “We The Last People Standing” (Don’t Believe The Hype)!!!

The hip hop mogul spoke to RadioPlanet.tv’s DJ Whoo Kid, about the negative criticism his label has received over the past decade. The label is known throughout the hip hop community to show little to no support of their artist.

During the interview Diddy said there is a propaganda movement against Bad Boy over signing to the label.

Over the last couple of years, there’s been a strong propaganda movement that’s been brewing in the negative sense against Bad Boy, against what it is to sign to the Bad Boy label, if it’s a detriment to your career,” he said. “Just hate. Just regular hate and also a lot of people not understanding how this industry works.”

Diddy believes that the hip hop community doesn’t understand how the industry works and clarifies that signing and dropping artists in a short term is a regular practice in the music business.

This industry has a life expectancy of two years. It started a couple of years ago like, ‘What happened with this artist? Why isn’t this artist still on the label?’ So people started to try to give us a bad rap and spread that propaganda through the new generation. When honestly, nobody on Def Jam’s still on Def Jam. No one who was on Roc-A-Fella is still on Roc-A-Fella. There’s not even still a Roc-A-Fella. It was named something else. We the last people standing, we the last crew standing. And I’m not saying that with any disrespect towards anybody’s name who I just said. We not letting that propaganda ride.”

Diddy’s explanation regarding his artist makes sense to a certain extent. As fans we don’t know anything about the music industry ,but we know it’s not usual for a label to have so many artist that come and go. G-Dep,Cherri Dennis,Black Rob, Day 26, Dream, Carl Thomas, 8 Ball&MJG,112,B5,Faith Evans,Mario Winans,Total,Shyne and a lot more. This isn’t usual for a label he claims is still on top. Instead of being real and explaining what really happens, he compares his label to other companies that succumbed to the same fate.

I’m not going to bring up the Lox fiasco or anything that a former artist might have said about the label. But let’s look at the facts,Bad Boy had a lot of talent and it’s extremely hard to believe that they were all subject to a two-year industry span. CMON Diddy!!!

Poetic justice is what it is. Snake Combs ruined SO many careers, its only fair his own should meet the same fate and die a very slow and painful death.

I just saw a video from Gina Thompson that had Diddy, Missy and Biggie in it. What was she, a one hit wonder? And what did Craig Mack sing? And lord, what is Shyne doing these days?

As Kemi pointed out, Craig is known for Bad Boy's first number-one hit, "Flava in Yo Ear" (BIG was on the remix of that song and he...and Busta Rhymes blew up from being on that remix). Shyne is active in duty as a Muslim and I'm guessing he's still rapping...independently.

Shyne converted to Judaism, if I'm not mistaken, not Islam.

doh! THAT'S RIGHT! He did convert to Judaism... I think he's part of that Black Hebrew group or something... hmmm Then again I don't know, I'm not too up on former Bad Boy artists like that but I read something about it.

all of you act these artist had potential to be around twenty five years. i known for a fact that half of these artist on the live circuit can't deliver. most of these artist that you are talking about have nasty attitudes. they don't show up on time for anything. do you think a concert promoter want to spend money on artist who can't deliver and unprofessional?
