Your Fishbone posts have re-ignited my interest in them after many years.

Seems they have a new EP out http://music.fishbone.net/

I'm going to track down some of their earlier shit I think.

Interesting timing. They have not arrived yet but I just ordered this album and Truth and Soul. I think I may have heard one or two Fishbone songs but I know virtually nothing about them.

Nice to hear some new Fishbone! So far I like the title track, but I'm not enjoying the rest of it. I'll probably give it a couple of more spins to see if get into it.

I just gave Truth and Soul a spin. Too early to really give my impressions of it other than to say that it sounds extremely clean. I know it was the '80s but it makes Lovesexy sound raw and unpolished in comparison. I just started The Reality of My Surroundings and find the sound much more suited to the music.

How in the world did these guys not make it big? Seems like they had the perfect sound for the late '80s/early '90s. I guess the obvious answer is that they were too eclectic but it sounds like they had enough of a few different genres in their sound to appeal to a mass audience.

Just finished the album and I am impressed. It's very kinetic and ambitious. It maintains a very high level of energy and a great vibe all the way through. I can see why it is cited as their best album.

It kind of stinks that there are no bands out there doing anything similar to this.

Opinions seem pretty split about the quality but I just placed orders for the next two albums (Give a Monkey a Brain... and Chim Chum's Badass Revenge).

I wondered this to, especially in the early 90's when Faith No More, Chili Peppers & White Zombie broke big

These band has weird sounds, and combined different genres[i am manly talking Zombies La Sexorcisto album wink ]

And they got big......

I LOVE that album, big Zombie freak & i think that is his all time best solo & white

Btw, if you haven't check out Rob's new solo album from 2010. I think it is his best solo wise, John 5 Is on guitar, and he is the best guitar player Rob has had. There is strings, accousitc, bluesy sounding songs it's a great mix. His most versatile record to date

Nice, thanks for putting this performance up. That's my first time seeing it. Must've been shortly before Christopher Dowd left the group. I remember seeing them around this time. There was a really dark mood at the show that I saw.

They really should have been the 'Sly & Family Stone' of the 80's

Great live shows (I mentioned on a Chili peppers thread some time back) Saw Fishbone open for the Chili's at the Ritz NYC on Halloween in '86. A life altering experience smile
