Updated: 50 Cent Tweets Ultimatum to Interscope

January 1, 2012

Link

It looks like 50 Cent ended 2011 on a low note.

Although the superstar rapper is a multi-platinum seller for Interscope Records, his deal expired and the label has yet to pick up an option for future releases.

Over the weekend, 50 (real name: Curtis Jackson) tweeted, “Ok I need a record deal jimmy iovine, call me early tomorrow or I’m putting out another mix tape.” Iovine is chairman of Interscope/ Geffen/ A&M Records, which has released four full-length albums via its Shady Records imprint along with several compilations and a soundtrack (2005's Get Rich or Die Tryin').

In 2003, the Queens-bred rapper scored a No. 1 hit with "In Da Club." "Anybody want to sign me I’m a young hungry artist and I work harder then everybody in hip-hop call me tomorrow," 50 continued, pointing out that the video for "Put Your Hands Up," off of his The Big 10 mixtape (available for free download on his Facebook page), has amassed 3.5 million views in three days.

In June, 50 also took to Twitter to criticize his record company, writing, "Ok I tried to be cool with my record company. I went to the meeting talk to everyone and sh*t feels like there moving in slow motion [sic] ... I'm sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don't get on the same page."

According to reports, he has completed a studio album which is ready for release.

2012 resolution: Every so called artist or tv personality or so called athelete that takes to TWITTER to be "bold" loses their contract for being lame. Im tired of hearing about people's "tweets" grow up already and become a man.

Man i do love old hip hop, but i am tried of hip hop right now... rappers gettng in beefs, tweet battles, same club bullshit over & over. I wish it would die out

Isn't he far too irrelevant to take risks like these? After that mess he started with Kanye no one cares what he has to say.

He should be like P.Diddy and focus on his other,non-musical ventures. That's where the real money is anyway.

Oh, Fiddy and Twitter. Has anybody seen this? It hasn't been updated for a while, but he takes 50's tweets and translates them into the Queen's English.

Yeah, I hear that. But I actually think the beefs are way less serious now and more about trying to look hard. Granted, I don't pay attention to music news all that much, but I don't know of any beefs right now as serious as some from the 90s, like Biggie and 2Pac or any songs as inflammatory as Hit 'Em Up. Of course, that doesn't excuse the total craptasticness of most mainstream hip-hop lately...

Who's bought a 50 Cent album since 2007?

You never hear anybody say 'Yo, you heard that new 50 Cent album?" I haven't since high school in 2006 lol

Jesus Curtis... confused

'I'm not going to live much longer': 50 Cent makes macabre death prediction on Twitter

By Mike Larkin

Last updated at 11:11 PM on 4th January 2012

His first album was titled Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

But despite meeting his ambition after raking in tens of millions thanks to his highly profitable career, it seems 50 Cent believes he is heading for an early grave.

For the hip hop star made a series of tweets in which he said he was convinced death was just around the corner.

Fiddy, 36, said: 'Ill be honest I don't think I'm gonna live much longer.'

He also insisted he is 'good if I die tonight.'

It came after he had a lengthy Twitter rant about the state of his career.

He said: 'I have lost all the faith in the team I'm on. I having nothing left to say I will not be promoting my music.

'I'm going to deliver this album then I have a film I wrote to focus on.

'I'm not upset I'm just convinced this is not how I want to remembered.'

The wealthy star was alluding to his high profile falling out with his record label Interscope.

He has been attacking them in a flurry of internet messages, previously saying: 'Were suppose to be on the same team with me.

'Music was so much fun for me now the people and politics involved disgust me.'

Perhaps the reason they are at loggerheads is the rapper's failure to replicate the sales success he enjoyed earlier in his career.

His 2003 debut album sold a whopping eight millions copies in the US alone, and is the fourth biggest selling rap album of all time.

It's follow up The Massacre also did well, selling just short of five million copies in the States on its way to going five times platinum.

However 2007's Curtis only went platinum, with sales of more than 1.3 million, while his most recent album 2009's Before I Self Destruct fared even worse selling just 446,000 copies.

At least the rapper has been able to enjoy a profitable career away from the world of music.

He is believed to have made $100m after tax after Coca Cola bought the drinks company Glaceau in 2007.

Fiddy, real name Curtis Jackson, had a stake in the company after producing the Vitamin Water drink Formula 50.

----

Dude, you're a businessman and making good enough money and also you need to understand, Curtis, that uh, rap careers rarely have long-lasting success with only a few exceptions (LL Cool J and Jay-Z stand out like sore thumbs). But these latest tweets were just some of the dumbest and stupidest he's sent since he had a Twitter. neutral I can understand his frustration but dude you should've seen it coming... Ja or Irv should've warned you. Or better yet "your boy" Marshall...
