I advise cautious optimism. The tour could be great or it could end up being the greatest train wreck in the history of western civilisation.

Everyone's old crazy uncle.

I love David, but he grew up like cute child stars from old tv shows. All weird and shit.

Why?? The last tour went pretty well, didn't it? It even got extended. So why should this one be different... they had a long enough break, so I'm sure they want this tour.

I Agree, the old tour was successful. But you know the boys, there's always drama.

im envious of ppl who can do music ie play instruments, play music, make music the whole thing. While its prob not the norm for musicians to go hell bent on drugs it happens .. dosnt make thema bad person .hope ed stays on the str8 n narrow if he is

I will always be a EVH nut for life n will see this show i am a VH fan for life ..

What did i hear one of princes band mates say about how u carry yourself when in his band , how u dress, etc u have to be eccentric its rock n roll .. DLRs voice and personality is VH .. the red rocker did a great job too. To see ed wail is heaven .. alex pound those drums into mince meat is paradise he has a sound all his own .. ive met MA in glendora ca where he lives a few times nice guy i dig chickenfoot .. seein wolfy on bass for the last tour was inspirational .. but it wasnt MA .. im looking forward to this if it happens ..

Wonder how the guitar mavens who thought Eddie equalled Van Halen are going to like his fireworks displays and balls-to-the-wall hooks now that video star David Lee Roth has given way to one of the biggest schmucks in the known biz. No musician with something to say could stomach responding to Sammy Hagar's call, and this album proves it. C+

OU812 [Warner Bros., 1988]
Not that they give a shit, but trading Dave for Sammy sure wrecked their shot at Led Zep of the '80s--master guitarist, signature vocalist, underrated rhythm section. They wouldn't have made it anyway, of course. Eddie's obsessed with technique, Roth's contemptuous of technique, rhythm section's got enough technique and no klutz genius. But Sammy . . . like wow. If I can't claim the new boy owns them (property rights they protect), you can't deny he defines them. Not that they give a shit. C"

Now, Dave, on the other hand:

"

Eat 'Em and Smile [Warner Bros., 1986]
With everybody from Patti to Belinda to Peter to Eldra kissing pop's ass, Roth gives it a pinch and keeps on trucking. Maybe because he lived out his wimpier fantasies on last year's EP, here he's free to mastermind his own piece of multiplatinum potential. Sure he covers "That's Life," but he also assembles a metal band that'll cut old buddies: Maynard Ferguson drummer, cult heaven bassist, and on guitar former Zappa and Lydon sideman Steve Vai, who splits the difference between parody and virtuosity. I mean, Vai is funny without opening his mouth. And of course, so is our voluble auteur, who makes Miss Liberty a burlesque queen and neither lady a whore. B+

Underrated rhythm section? Huh? Michael Anthony and his mind numbingly simple single note basslines are underrated?

And i care about one mans reviews why? i like the Sammy era, this seems to disturb you i have an opinion other then your own lol

Sammy had 4 number 1 albums with the group, tons of hits & all 4 of the Sammy era albums went multi platinum & where nominated for grammy's. So if you don't like ''Van Hager'' tons of others do wink

Right!, Mike is a good bass player. but do to Eddie wanting to always groove out amazing solos had to take a back burner to just providing simple rhythum to them. Although i think he did great work on Women & Children First & Fair Warning. After that... his bass playing was just here & there

And on that, i think OU812 is a great album, people will disagree but eh i like it a lot.
