We'll also have several guests join us on the show to talk about the Godfather of Soul:

Interesting show tonight ... great conversations with Fred, Clyde, Martha and Sharon .. but the most moving was Charles Bobbitt's account of the very last moments in James Brown's life .. definitely worth a listen.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

R.I.P. to the founder of Funk. Who knows what the world would sound like if he never existed...It would be a hell of a lot more boring! The Godfather performing one of his last singles "Funk On Ah Roll" along with "I Can't Stand It" on Letterman in '98. Exiles of the Nation
"Liquidation", the NEW 18th LP. Available everywhere now. https://youtube.com/chann...-ieACvEQMA

Nice work. I clearly remember waking up on Christmas morning and hearing the news. At the time I had a fairly small collection of his material so I just loaded the Star Time box set into the cd player and listened to all four discs.
A few years before he passed he played in Halifax. I intended to see him but never did. I quite regret that now.
I thought that what Clyde Stubblefield had to say was interesting. He was certainly very honest.

Thanks bro. I definitely think that Mr. Bobbitt's recount of the last hours in James Brown's life was quite touching.

I agree. Clyde's experience with James Brown wasn't the best .. we felt that it was important that we'd present this view as well.

Charles Bobbitt basically confirmed what I thought happened to James anyway - he was sick for a mighty long time. He just covered it up real good since he never let anyone know he was actually dying. Charles saying James had lost 20 pounds don't surprise me either. His last TV performance, which was in London, he looked like a shell of his former self though he was still entertaining, he obviously had weakened and it was sad to see that footage. You hate to see a legend that magnificent fade out like that.

James was the man, unbelievable that it's already been 5 years...I'll be blastin' his stuff until it's my turn to leave this planet, that's for sure
