Nelly Furtado Joins Darkchild in The Studio

December 24, 2011

Make way for Nelly Furtado. The singer is returning to pop music in 2012 with her fourth English album, formerly titled Lifestyle.

In her “T.S.I (Part One)” video, she hits the studio with super-producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.

The two have recorded about 10 songs together for the summer release. “This is my first time working with Rodney Jerkins,” says the Canadian songbird. “I only met him about six weeks ago actually. We hit it off creatively. We definitely speak a creative language together and it’s really fun working with him.”

Good to hear she is back in the studio and that she is not working with washed up Timba

Let's hope its some good solid music

Timbaland has gone from being progressively innovative to lazy and

passé. I hope that she and Darkchild deliver a distinctive-sounding album.

I remember Salaam Remi doing work with Nas. What was his biggest hits with Mr. Jones? Anybody.....

"Made You Look" and "I Can" are the only two Salaam Remi-produced hits performed by Nas that immediately come to mind.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought he was behind "Made You Look" wasn't sure. That was dope! Salaam seems to have really come into his own the past few years. I wonder if he can produce another hit for Nas. Nas is one of my favorite emcees but his ear for hot music is usually off.

You would think with Janet's Discipline and Brandy's Human as recent albums where Rodney is the "band" and songwriter, he wouldn't be at the top of anyone's list anymore. Why do we keep hearing albums from him? The 00's are over.

She has got a phat ass, otherwise I find it hard to care about

Nelly Furtado...

..Or Rodney Jerkins for that matter: his music is so annoying.

I wonder, who are the amazing R&B producers these days? It seems that everyone works with the same people nuts It's like artists don't have alot of choices,do they?

I suppose people were saying the same thing about Timbaland before Loose dropped. His Beat Club productions were flopping then he went pop with Nelly. Hopefully she can work her magic again!

Well he did produced Gaga's Telephone so he has that going for him as far as commercial success goes. Plus he also produced 3 of my favorite tracks from Janet as well (Feedback, Luv, Make Me), so I'm willing to give what he comes up with Nelly a listen. As long as he keeps his mouth shut without having to say "Darkchild" on every other damn song he produces.

I think we can attribute Telephone's success just to the Gaga phenomenon, and more importantly, the video.
