I don't like the new intro. I do love Vesta's personality. Boy, did Freddie Jackson get slammed. One thing, all these songs other than Congratulations, I had no idea she sang. I thought it was someone else.

Yeah Freddie was a big "diva" (and not in a good way) back in the day, don't know if he still is now.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Really, Freddie was a diva, do tell.

I have to say, I would have loved to have met Vesta. She seemed cool as hell and I forgot about that commercial with Al Jarreau

Just seeing her making comments about a couple of her music videos was enough to put a smile on my face. I agree that she really would have been cool to meet even once. I remember her doing impressions of Jackee Harry (and others) when she was interviewed on Video Soul with Donnie Simpson waaay back in the day.

The most shocking thing for me was her cocaine addiction. Still hard to

believe she's gone.

Just watched online. Oh wow. She was special. Man, the music business is cold.sad So thankful she got the opportunity to share her story with the world. If you stick around after the commercial at the end of the episode there are two short bonus clips. The first one, "Keep Going", is very touching.sad The second one, "Vesta Cracks Up", is a riot.fallofflol God bless you Vesta...whereever you are. rose

Is it wrong to say during her cover of Chaka's song, Vesta was looking FIONE?

Overall I liked this episode. It was kind of sad but not too sad because you can see that she was an outspoken person and didn't mind making people laugh. I like how she owned her mistakes and took the necessary steps to recognize them and correct them. I never knew she was on cocaine for so long...she must had been a functional addict for even folks who knew her for years that said they didn't know she was using. Also I love how she made fun of herself when she was big, looking back at the old videos and all. Seems like she never lost her wit about herself, even when she was really heavy set. She was really inspiring. nod

Now on to Bobby's next week.....ohhhhh yeeeeaaaahhhhhhh excited popcorn

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I won't have TV One as part of my cable package until next week. I can't wait to get home and watch the Vesta episode online. I saw another preview of it and the most exciting thing for me was finally getting to see pics of Vesta & Chaka together when she toured as Chaka's backgroud vocalist back in the early 80's. To my knowledge, those pics have never been published anywhere.

Yeah, the only connection I knew that linked between both women - aside from the obvious influence factor - was Vesta's name in the liner notes in one of Chaka's albums.

Looking @ her old pix from the late 70s/early 80s, its scary how they look/act alike, they even have the same devilish "try me" demeanor lol

That Soul Train appearance? Where she was looking like Grandma Ethel in her Sunday church glamour best? The 80's were not kind. lol She looked great during the 90's and the more recent looks and blew me away with her beauty during her Unsung interview. Such a shame she isn't with us anymore.

She still had her voice, and sounded great at the end. It was sad watching it. They had a lot of people who spoke on her life. It was good to see Will Downing on there. She was pretty, had an amazing voice, & I loved her sense of humor. RIP Vesta.
