Allen Stone - "Unaware" /"Your Eyes"

...

I love dude's voice - first time I heard it, I thought Lewis Taylor had come out of hiding.....

Allen Stone is one talented dude! Seeing that performance on Conan about a month ago made me an instant fan! If I remember correctly he's a completely independent artist which is cool, but I'm unhappy with the fact that he seems to sell his music only digitally. Though I'm just 23 I'm too old school to be satisfied with an mp3. Here's a cool Beatles cover with Nikka Costa:

Kool! Thanks!

Not getting the Lewis Taylor reference apart from them both being white. He and his music sound nothing like Lewis Taylor - Lewis has got a much better voice. Allen's voice is good - just pretty average blue eyed soul good. Speaking as a white person, I'm getting pretty sick of the PR around white soul singers these days - the whole "isn't it amazing that they're white but sound black" shtick. It's not a novelty.

I can hear where one could detect an initial LT resemblance.
Where Stone's arrangements stay traditional, LT takes things quite a few steps further.

He's coming to L.A. in March for a scant $15. Quite a bargain i'd say.
The same venue (month, almost to the day) LT cancelled at some years ago. confused

True , the actual compositions are really nothing like LT. It's kool stuff, if not particularly imaginative. But my initial impression - I heard the voice before I saw who it was--when I first heard the timbre of the voice, I was like, "Man, did Lewis show up again?". I had no idea what he looked like, black or white--I was just reacting to the voice I heard....

I'll have to catch him if he comes 'round..

BTW, Speaking of that cancellation, I had no idea that the NYC performance was gonna be the Only one on this side of the pond....

After reading these two comments I just had check out who Lewis Taylor is and after hearing a few snippets of his music I have to say I'm very impressed. Next time I hit the record stores I'm going straight to the letter T part of the soul & funk section. Thank you theAudience and paligap.
